Would avoid Medichecks because they don't give ranges or do DHEA (which tells you more about the stage of HPA dysfunction, if any). Regenerus is the one recommended usually: regeneruslabs.com/products/...

£88, so similar, but you get a much better test and more useful results!

Hi seveneleven❤️

Thanks for the info, so I just go on line and order it? Any tips for doing the test as I've never done one before 👍

Yep! You just create an account and order. The instructions are very detailed, and tubes are colour-coded, so I found it fairly straightforward. Might help to set yourself a timer for each of the samples because it's really important they're taken at the correct times (especially first thing in the morning and midday). Also try to avoid loads of exercise or unusually heavy/stressful activity that day - just go about your normal routine :)

Well first of all stressful activity is something I don't do as I'm alway tired /fatigued 😬 but I sweat buckets when I move about and get bad palpitations and tremors (I'm not over medicated/ on T3) do i take my T3 medication as normal? Would it effect the result? 👍

If that's just your normal then do what you normally do - the point of it is to show up what your cortisol does in response to everyday stuff. It's more just not, say, doing it on the day you move house or something! My understanding is you just take your meds as normal, but they've got really detailed instructions.

Have a look on the ThyroidUK page for cortisol test, that will give you the code you need to order from Regenerus and how to go about it. Good luck, it sounds very complicated but you just need to read the instructions very well when you want to do the test.

Hi birkie,

One of the thing's that nearly caught me out was caffeine. No tea or coffee that day! So if you drink either, don't! Caffeine free day! 🙂

Nor any soft drinks containing caffeine such as cola, Red Bull, etc :)

Read more information and order the adrenal function saliva test

thyroiduk.org/help-and-supp...

There is no specific discount code like there is with Medichecks, etc.

There is an information leaflet included in the kit, read a few times before doing the test.

You continue to take any essential medication, you don't take supplements on the day of the test.

Of course! I always forget about soft drinks like red bull etc with not drinking any of them.

No red bull, or any stimulating drinks.. I'm jittery enough without drinking them... Hell I've not had my favourite wine in around 5 years chateauneuf-du-pape.. 😋 Would get a bottle at Christmas and my birthday 🎉 but since my thyroid went nuts and I lost it I can't stomach any alcohol 😢

Just to add, if you’re on any form of steroid you have to stop, it does give details of that before you purchase.

You know I was on steroids for about 4 months after being in hospital for 11 days with colitis, I was sent out with 4 months supply, the best 4 months of my life, very little body pain, no sweating, had energy felt fantastic, then slowly came off them and everything returned 😭 wanted to go back on them but gp refused 😩

I’d be wary of staying on oral steroids for a long time.

I’m on a steroid inhaler and unfortunately it means I can’t test my cortisol as I can’t stop for the requisite 2 weeks.

Hope you get some answers. ☺️
