It seems likely you have some sort of infection/inflammation.

There are many possibilities and it might be that the lab simply cannot decide without expert input.

I'm sorry that is such a wishy-washy answer but I don't think anyone can say much more - without being trained and without seeing the sample/results.

prettyt65,

It is usual for lymphocytes to elevate during a Hashimotos attack, and other WBC’s can follow suit as part of the immune response, although to a lesser degree. Have you been tested for both thyroid antibodies TPOAb & TGAb?

The process of using iron to make red blood cells and haemoglobin can be strongly effected by long term low thyroid hormones as you need adequate to drive the process. You also need enough iron and Vit B12/folate, or the body starts skewing results in its efforts to maintain homeostasis. Breathlessness is a sign of both inadequate iron levels and/or low thyroid hormone.

Elevated ESR is common in unmanaged autoimmune disease and if you have chronic inflammation from other long term conditions, these will be skewing all results further.

Are you optimally medicated with thyroid hormone? Have you had an iron panel done recently? Also folate and Vit V12 levels tested?

Was is hashimoto's attack??

Hashimoto's thyroiditis is the autoimmune disease that causes most hypothyroidism.

The immune system destroys the thyroid gland. This can take many years to get to the point of causing hypothyroidism, and many more to effectively completely destroy the thyroid.

This is Hashimoto's attack. Though sometimes we see people having little happen for long periods and then the attack rages for a while.

pettyt65,

You can eliminate a thyroid (autoimmune) condition by having a comprehensive thyroid test including thyroid antibodies.

Sorry you are feeling so unwell.

I don't know if you have been diagnosed with a thyroid condition, but I agree with @Helvella that there is some infection/inflammation somewhere and (in my inexpert view), it may be nothing to do with the thyroid.

I'm sorry you are feeling so unwell. I'm sure they don't think you are being over the top with it all. It is plain from your results that something is not right, but they have not yet worked out what it is, and a haematology expert is needed to move forward.

Have you mentioned your cough and night sweats to the doctor? Did they give you a chest X-ray? I'm not medical at all, but I'm just thinking I would like that reassurance myself. You could perhaps call your GP and let him know how rough you are feeling and ask is there anything else that could be done. He might not realise how debilitated you are feeling.

Wishing you luck and hoping you feel better soon.
