Hi!

Could I ask for an interpretation of my latest results taken 11th May. Thank You!

The vitamins have improved after supplementation since last results 15th March.

However the thyroid results are all over the place. I increased the Levo to 100/150 alternating days. So now need to reduce having increased too much!?!

My symptoms are awful but not sure how much are meds related (I am on Accord brand having not been able to tolerate Teva) or getting dose correct.

I had a total thyroidectomy in May 2022 (enlarged goitre).

I have no tolerance to temperatures - can be cold and shivery and then also have hot flushes especially after meds. I have put on 10kgs since my op. I feel nauseous all the time. Tired, very sad, food sensitives. Is this is good as I can expect?

I have an appointment at the Thyroid clinic on Wednesday and it will very much depend on who I see to what help I receive.

Thank You.

That was probably too much of an increase and many people find they need similar dose levothyroxine everyday

Alternating between 100mcg and 150mcg is quite a difference even though it averages out as 125mcg

Suggest you cut a 50mcg into 1/4’s and take 112.5mcg every day

Get weekly pill dispenser to save spare 1/4’s in

Cut tablets with sharp craft scalpel

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

Vitamin D, B Complex, Omegas, Magnesium. I also take supps/meds for osteoporosis.

As you take Vit D, are you also taking Vit K2-MK7? This is a very important cofactor of Vit D, especially so as you are taking meds for osteoporosis.

Taking D3 aids absorption of calcium from food. We need that calcium to go to our bones and teeth. Vit K2-MK7 directs calcium to bones and teeth and away from arteries and soft tissues where it can be deposited and cause problems like calcification of arteries, kidney stones, etc.

Some articles about Vit K2-MK7 and bone health:

Yes I do I - it is a complete complex. I have support from the Osteoporosis Society on best supps. etc. Thank You for replying. I was Hyper for many years and also an early menopause - so have been working on better bone health for decades. Although recently (at 73) have now osteoporosis.

When did you take your last dose of Levo before the test? Last dose should be 24 hours before blood draw to avoid a false high or false low FT4. If you took your Levo before the test this would give you a false high FT4 level as it would be measuring the temporary spike in levels following ingestion of Levo (Levo peaks in the blood 2-4 hours after ingestion).

Do you take a B Complex or any supplement containing biotin? If so did you leave this off for 3-7 days before the test, biotin causes false results.

Folate could be better, it's recommended to be at least half way through range so that would be 35 plus with that range.

No B supplements for five days prior to test. No Levo for 24 hours prior to test.

In that case your FT4 is way too high and may be causing your symptons. A dose reduction of Levo to bring FT4 into range is suggested. As SlowDragon says, an increase of 25mcg was too much, go down to 112.5mcg and see what your levels are like in 8-10 weeks.

Folate 21 (8.83 - 60.8)

Recommend in week that you stop vitamin B complex you take a separate folate supplement instead

Eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg
