blood results : hi everyone , I attached my blood... - Thyroid UK
blood results
When did you last take Levo & T3 prior to this test?
Recommended blood test protocol: Test at 9am (or as close as possible), fasting, last levo dose 24hrs before the blood draw, last T3 dose 8-12 hours before blood draw & no biotin containing supplements for 3-7 days (Biotin can interfere with thyroid blood results as it is used in the testing process)? Testing like this gives consistency in your results and will show stable blood levels of hormone and highest TSH which varies throughout the day. Taking Levo/T3 just prior to blood draw can show a falsely elevated result and your GP/Endo might change your dose incorrectly as a result.
What supplements are you taking?
hi, yes I fasted before the bloods and no medication prior and bloods in the morning, I go for my bloods same time as well so I have an accurate comparison also. I’m also on alfacaidol and calcium and vitamin d. I think my endo will want to increase both t4 and t3 because my t4 has dropped and my t3 has. No wonder I feel so awlful.
When was the last time you took T3 though before the test?
12pm the day before
I'm just trying to work out how long the gap was with your T3 inparticular. So it was less than 12 hours?
it was the day before hand, but I take my t3 the same time every time before my bloods so I have an accurate comparison when I compare my bloods to the previous and in January my t3 was 5.1 (which is mid range and now it’s dropped even more) and my t4 was 13.4 so still low but not as low as now.
It may be an accurate comparison of your previous bloods however you will never get to know your true FT3 reading as it will always look low.
Might be an idea to begin to test in the recommended way from your next blood result so as not to be guessing how high your FT3 really is. You can then begin to compare more accurate results from there on in.
Do you mean noon or midnight for last dose T3
12pm noon
so Ft3 is falsely low
Last dose T3 should be 8-12 hours before test
Last dose Levothyroxine 24 hours before test
