Great job! I have to admit it was only last week that I learnt that taking Levo is what suppresses lactase production leading to lactose intolerance! So of course they continue to give you tablets with both in 🤯(mind blown)

I didn’t know that?! My gut issues came after thyroid treatment - makes total sense. Wow.

Thank you! I was just trying to research the connection between the gall bladder and hypothyroidism — and of course there is a connection!

I had my gall bladder removed just over a year ago and my thyroid meds are all out of whack again. 🥲

Hello Hunny

Would be grateful if you would point me to the part about gall bladder and hypothyroidism …

Thanks

Here’s three articles to get you started. I am just learning about the connection because I have both Hypothyroidism and more recently gall bladder issues.

Yes I was wondering about whether some of my health problems ( they are numerous!) may be affected by my lack of gallbladder, acute pancreatitis/ sepsis ( which made me insulin dependent type 3 diabetic) plus Hashi ! The links to Wentz articles are rather an eye opener. If they’d sorted my appalling Ft3 25 years ago I might not have had the other problems… bit chicken and egg. I’m not sure if I noticed the removal of the gallbladder itself altered my Hashi, but it was not long after I’d lost 3 stones in weight from pancreatitis. I have taken liquid vit D,K and A for years ( not E?), have odd guts and heavily ridged nails. Heaven knows whether GP would say to my asking him about all these contributions to poor nutritional absorption….a referral to a decent gastroenterologist perhaps is called for.

It all becomes such a muddled mess in my head because of the tangled web of impacts our thyroid has on our entire system! If you look at the visual depiction of our bodies on the “chart” (I don’t think doctors look) indicating what a thyroid condition impacts - it’s massively extensive. Most doctors take very little of that information into consideration and only look at your TSH number, prescribe and move on. In all my years dealing with this, I have never once had one inquire about anything much beyond fatigue and weight gain and those are usually brushed aside as well, so they can get back to that one lab result.

A quality gastroenterologist can be helpful but again - mine prescribed Pantoprozole which I later found out is not good with thyroid meds. And we specifically discussed my hypothyroidism. 🙄

best of luck.
