Can Sea Moss Gel affect your thyroid blood test

I recently had a thyroid blood test (nhs) and have been informed by my GP that the results show a slight abnormality and to re take the blood test in one month .

The only change I have made is to add Sea Moss Gel to my morning drink , could this have affected my thyroid as Sea Moss Gel contains 92 minerals including iodine.

Iodine can cause issues & generally iodine should not be added unless you are known to be deficient in it.  

An ordinary diet would provide sufficient iodine. 

How did your levels change?  

 Do you know if FT4 & FT3 were tested, often NHS labs only test TSH. 

How do you feel have you had any symptoms worsen or change?

 Add any results you have with lab range.  Results can be obtained from online access or a printout from practice reception.

thank you purple nails , it was a FT 4 and TSH only . And I wasn’t given the numbers .

Yes it can affect your thyroid levels. Iodine can make thyroid problems worse particularly if you are not iodine deficient.It was supplementing with iodine that caused my thyroid to go haywire.

Thank you Lalatoot I will look to remove this from my diet pending the results of my test next month
