That would probably depend on how optimally your thyroid is treated. If you're close or there then it would work, wouldn;t even need a personal trainer. If you're a way off then very little if anything will work.
I’ve done every diet and followed every exercise plan. A couple of things have helped since my Hashimoto’s has turned more hypo. Short intense workouts only, and only when really well. stopped running and long cardio, strength work like Iyenga yoga, diet wise cutting sugar gluten and dairy. The biggest improvement has been increasing T4 though. (I’m not on T3) You have to fix the thyroid and vitamins first in my opinion.
I agree with the previous posts. You have to wait until your thyroid replacement meds are optimal and even then there's no guarantee that you will lose weight.
Weight gain due to underactive thyroid is not the same as weight gain due to diet.
A friend of mine, who has an underactive thyroid, went to the local weight loss classes but lost no weight. She was accused of cheating which she would never have done.
As you’re not on any replacement thyroid hormones and levels have improved recently…..the gym may be very beneficial
But remember….don’t go too mad too soon
Explain to personal trainer your aims
Better to go 3 x week for half an hour…..than once a week for an hour
Maybe trial a 'gluten-free' diet for a couple of months as I lost weight quickly when I took gluten-free food.
