DIO2 polymorphism and reduced conversion of T4 to T3

I am sure that many people on here will have seen this study, but thought it might be useful for those having an argument with a GP or endocrinologist.

it shows the reduction in blood levels of T3 in people who have had a thyroidectomy and are on T4. The reduction Is greater for homozygous polymorphisms than heterozygous.

Lots of members have organised their own Dio2 test and found they test positive for this

It has helped some members get prescribed T3 on NHS

thanks for the links…..very useful, although some require a log in.

Yes, I have tested and been given T3 on that basis. The link I have found is a study that proves that T3 levels after thyroidectomy are reduced by the polymorphism and more with the homozygous than heterozygous. This is direct evidence that someone could use to argue their case with a sceptical doctor who does not believe it!
