I had my ultrasound done and at the time the sonographer said he saw no evidence of goiters or nodules.. which is good. However I've just had a call from my doctors surgery to discuss the "abnormal" results where they have said that I have "acute thyroiditis " I've got a call with the doctor tomorrow but wondered if anyone else had this? Its so confusing!

Autoimmune thyroiditis is also known as hashimotos or hashis.

As suggested in response to previous posts you need to have antibodies tested to see if it is autoimmune thyroiditis.

Knowing this will not change your treatment as such but it will help you to understand the fluctuations in levels.

Many of us on this site have found doctors to be lacking in knowledge of thyroid matters so it is best to read up on Hashis and Thyroid in general so you can be proactive to get the best treatment for you.

Thank you, I've had a antibodies test and it was normal. It's all just so weird..

recommend getting full thyroid and vitamin testing as per previous post
