T3 in Cyprus?

Hello. I thought I had read on here that T3 was readily available without prescription in Cyprus. My mum is there at the moment, but has tried 2 pharmacies and been told no. “Only at the hospital”. I may have misremembered and got confused with Greece. If anyone has had a different experience recently, please let me know and I will forward to her. Thank you.

It can be hit and miss, some members have had to traipse around and try many pharmacies before finding one or two that might sell one or two boxes without prescription.

My daughter bought some on one of the other Greek islands in September, the first pharmacy she tried offered her one box, when she asked if they had any more they let her have 6 boxes.

If your mum has the time she could try other pharmacies and she might be luckier.

Thank you SeasideSusie. I’m not sure how many pharmacies there are over there, but I will suggest she tries another if possible. I wonder why the inconsistency. Are some breaking the law while others won’t?

I honestly don't know why the inconsistency. Years ago it was possible to buy OTC with no problem. I think they cottoned on to "T3 tourism" and holiday makers stocking up with many boxes whilst there, and something apparently made them introduce prescription only, even residents needing to show their prescription I believe.

As time has passed it seems that some people have been able to buy T3 OTC occasionally, sometimes more easily, sometimes not at all. Possibly down to the pharmacy itself and making their own rules 🤷‍♀️.

Your mum might need to go a bit further afield. I think my daughter was very lucky that the pharmacy close to her hotel was obliging (and they were for me so I was a very happy bunny!).
