Once off adrenal cortex such as adrenavive, any idea how long before it leaves the body

I’d like to repeat the saliva cortisol test because I want to know how my adrenals are coping without support. The complex is 300mg though how much of that is the cortex I don’t know because it’s a complex comprising of nucleotides and rice bran. However, I’m now down to 100mg and plan to reduce that to zero over the next couple of weeks. How long, just roughly, should I wait before testing?

Thank you

At a guess …..6-8 weeks minimum

Thank you SlowDragon but really?!!

Absolutely….one of the main reasons we have to wait 6-8 weeks after any dose change in levothyroxine is for adrenals to settle after any metabolic change

Thank you again SD, that explanation makes sense

Are you going to do the Regenerus test? I think I would be inclined to ask them to see if they can help. You don't want to waste your money by doing it too early after stopping but you don't want to wait longer than necessary either. I've not tested since I stopped but mightdo so early next year.

Thank you SeasideSusie, that’s a great suggestion and yes it’s regenerus, or is it Genova?!! Hmm, will check though I’m sure there’s no real difference

How long is it since you stopped and have you noticed any changes? I think you’ve mentioned it before but did you stop after testing?

I stopped after testing, I'd been using glandulars for about three and a half years and never managed to get good results so I stopped. 7 months later I tested and my levels hadn't changed much other than waking level was bit better. If I test in the new year that will around 18 months since I stopped so it will be interesting to see if there is any difference. As I have other medical conditions (and I seem to be collecting them!) it's not easy to say if I've noticed any changes.

By not getting good results do you mean your cortisol levels never rose (much)? And by waking levels being a bit better after 7 months without taking them do you mean they were lower after stopping?

The reason I ask is that I think I’m confused. I suspect my levels are too high in the morning and at bedtime because I wake early and take too long to drop off!

I was taking glandulars to try and raise my levels. Adaptogens lower levels. My waking level was very stubborn and I never managed to raise it enough to get it well into the green zone, it was always in the lower yellow zone. The waking one should be the highest of the day, right near the top of it's range. My waking level was a bit higher 7 months after stopping but still not in the green zone.

What’s the negative if waking levels are low? Did you have difficulty waking in that you would sleep too long?

At the moment my quality of sleep is better, no question but I’m waking crazy early which lowering the dose doesn’t seem to have helped with but I’m not taking QUITE as long to drop off, at least

How good is your sleep? Have you experimented with adaptogens too? I took ashwaghanda for a while, years back. Wish I could remember its effect/s

I'm no expert on adrenals and I can't attribute any of my symptoms to any of my conditions, there's just too much going on I can't isolate them.

I was put on adaptogens back in 2015/16 by a practioner who I believe let me down big time, no real guidance or follow up which meant I was on them for far too long (I sacked the practioner and didn't think to retest adrenals to check levels). So what was high in range originally was over treated and caused very low in range levels which, although to some extent better, is proving almost impossible to raise the waking level.
