After living in France for 14 years and taking T3 only for 5 years for my Autoimmune Thyroiditis it was necessary to move back to the U.K. With the stress of parents with dementia, Mum severe sectioned in a mental health unit and Dad about to be diagnosed and living alone the stress is enormous.
Having registered with a GP here who took one look at my medication and didn’t know what to do. He consultantes an endo who replied that only Levo is allowed. I am still in dispute with the GP practice.
l am already depressed and tearful so am sure a change in meds will make things worse.
can anyone suggest a way forward. ? Maybe l need to self medicate ? Any helpful advice gratefully accepted.
Thank you ,

liothyronine is allowed on NHS, but has to be approved by NHS endocrinologist and prescribed via endocrinologist hospital pharmacy for 3-6 months before getting prescription on NHS via GP
Difficult to jump through the hoops, but increasing numbers of people are being prescribed, but usually that’s as small dose alongside levothyroxine
Rarer, but not impossible, to be prescribed just T3
i have just read your other posts you were taking 3 grains of Armour per day., then changed to T3. You stated that you were taking 5 pills per day split. Is this correct and have been taking this much or did you make a mistake.
Perhaps insist politely on accepting your prescription from France. GPs often have accepted prescriptions from EU health systems and even other countries. Even with T4 here they can be funny sometimes (people have told me they get T4 and T3 sent to them by friends and relatives). Don’t loose hope, I am sure you’ll sort it out.
