Standard increases are 25mcg but if you're not sure you could cut the 25mcg tablets in half and just take an extra 12.5mcg for a few weeks, see how you feel then add the extra when you're ready.
It's also up to you if you want to split it, I think the majority of us take Levo in one dose as it's a storage hormone, but some do find they do better if they split it.
It's all about trial and error and finding what's right for you.
Retest 6-8 weeks after the increase, this could wait until after you've added the whole 25mcg if you don't feel optimally medicated with just the extra 12.5mcg.
Hi Lolalottie, some members are fine adding 25mcg, but I’m very sensitive to increases and decreases and add 12.5mcg alternate days for a week, then daily before adding the full dose increase. What works for one, doesn’t always work for another!
I do alternate days of an increase. The first week on the new dose can be a bit weird too. Take it easy on yourself. You’ve got two brands there too haven’t you? I trialled Accord (usually Teva) on my increase to 100mcg and it was awful. 48 hours of gurgling and itchy mouth. Back to Teva for me! So watch out for any new brand strangeness. Pharmacist and GP solved it in a couple of days but I had to chase and use up old stocks. Hope it goes well 🦋💚🦋
Not that I’m aware of. My regular Asda pharmacist couldn’t get Teva in 100mcg form (only 25mcg) as his supply is controlled centrally and he just gets what he’s given, so when a GP specifies 100mcg tablets he has to dispense what he has in stock (which was Accord). I switched pharmacy to the one linked to our new medical centre and they were able to order Teva 100mcg in same day.
