just testing TSH is completely inadequate

Request GP do full iron panel test for anaemia, including ferritin

Looking at previous post and profile

You have Hashimoto’s and PA

Request GP test vitamin D and folate

how frequently is your B12 injection

What other vitamin supplements are you currently taking

Strongly recommend getting full thyroid test done via Monitor My Health

Or thyroid and vitamins if GP won’t test vitamin levels

See in-depth reply in previous post

Hi , I think i can get a full blood test when I am next due if l ask if not I will go the route you have suggested b12 every 8 weeks or i start to wobble !

Do monitor my health test about 3-4 weeks after B12 injection

Do you normally also take a daily vitamin B complex?

As you have B12 injections it’s recommended also to supplement a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid) may be beneficial.

This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and will help improve B12 levels between injections too

Difference between folate and folic acid

chriskresser.com/folate-vs-...

Many Hashimoto’s patients have MTHFR gene variation and can have trouble processing folic acid.

B vitamins best taken after breakfast

Thorne Basic B recommended vitamin B complex that contains folate, but they are large capsules. (You can tip powder out if can’t swallow capsule)

IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate methyl folate supplement

first step is request/insist GP test folate, full iron panel test including ferritin and vitamin D

See what you can get via NHS

If can’t get all tested ….test thyroid and vitamin levels via Medichecks or Blue horizon

If you get vitamins tested via GP then just test TSH, Ft4 and Ft3 via Monitor My Health

Test before starting any vitamin supplements

My gp says TSH too high

TSH 0.17 mlI/L (0.27 -4,2)

I think you may mean that your GP has said that your TSH is too low. You can see that it is below range. Has your GP said that he wants to reduce your dose of Levo?

You need FT4 and FT3 both tested as well as TSH.

Hair falling out can be hypothyroidism but can also be low ferritin/low iron. Ask your GP for a full iron panel to include:

Serum iron

Total iron binding capacity

Transferrin saturation percentage

Ferritin

He can request it and then it's usually the lab who decides if it's tested. At the hospital lab which tests for my surgery they virtually always do mine because my TSH is always suppressed.

You can always do your own thyroid test which includes TSH, FT4 and FT3 with a fingerprick test from the NHS lab at Exeter hospital who offer it to the general public for £26.10 - details and discount code here:

If your FT4 and FT3 show any problem then I can't see how your GP could argue with results from an NHS lab.

Perfect Thanks I will do that
