Well I posted a few days ago about my endocrinologist prescribing me liquid levothyroxin, saw endo on 3rd Aug, I've been informed today by my surgery the letter arrived yesterday from said endo, but the gp as yet to approve it!!! So still waiting 😞.. Then it takes around 2/3 weeks for the pharmacy to get it in 🙄 goodness this is taking way to long.. 😤😤 But I would like to ask any members if they are on liquid levothyroxin?.. Can you split it, obviously their will be the recommended dosing on the bottle but I didn't want to go in on the full dose right away, I wanted to trialate up.. I've been on 25mg T4 since the end of May, before that it was 50mg but decrease due to side effects to teva 25mg..I really want this to work as I've been screwed about by my surgery for far to long now, 😢

it should not take your pharmacy that long to order it as it comes in over night. Unless the prescription mentions a particular brand and it’s out of stock and then you may have to wait.
As for splitting the dose, yes of course you can. The bottle comes with a syringe which you draw up to the required amount. Say you were on 50mcgs, you would be prescribed a 50mcg per 5ml. So if you wanted to split that you would take 2.5 mls twice a day or if you really want to break it down you could do 1ml 5 times a day!
I've replied to you on my post. Also though, it is very easy to split the dose as you use a syringe to draw the liquid from the bottle. That makes it extremely easy to take tiny doses if necessary and also to be very precise. I hope that answers your question and your GP approves it soon.
No wonder you have exclamation marks and hopefully awaiting a prescription from GP. If the Endo prescribed then your GP should have no cause not to prescribe for you.
thanks shaws... BUT... today I cut my finger and needed to get some plasters from the back of my cupboard the top shelf, don't really go up their much... But what did I find🤔.... A bottle of oral liquid levoroxine, I thought I'd lost my mind 🤯 I brought it down and sat thinking someone is playing a trick on me🙁 until I looked at the date prescribed 2019 after I'd taken T4, T4 teva and both gave me bad stomach and gut issues, I now remember the endo not being to keen on giving me T3 so I was put on T4 liquid levoroxine, one months supply at 3 times a day 5ml spoons /which did the same as the T4 pills, it even says on the leaflet.. Can cause upset stomach and diarrhoea, this is what it did so I had to discontinue it, I was then put on T3 teva... This solution is.. Levothyroxine sodium 25mcq..5ml..creo phama.. I'm now terrified its going to be the same suspension/ same brand.. It contains.. Glycerol, citric acid anhydrous, sodium methyl, parahydroxybenxoate, (E219) citric acid 10% and purified water, sorry for all this info shaws but I've been worried All day I'm going to end up with this solution... I'm also gobsmacked I couldn't remember I was prescribed it till I saw the date on the bottle, I honestly think I'm going mad... 😭😭
When we're under considerable stress/strain, we probably aren't capable of thinking clearly but we try to do our best. We aren't going mad but we're trying to figure out why we feel so awful when we have assumed that the prescription we've collected will work and relieve our symptoms.
It is because our body isn't functioning normally as we're lacking in sufficient T3 and you'll be aware our brain and heart have the most T3 receptor cells.
People can converse with us but if our body is under strain we may not absorb what is being said.
You have an option of either requesting your GP to give another prescription and state what you want on the prescription. or you can speak to the pharmacist and ask for his advice of what you could be prescribed and what he thought would not cause unpleasant symptoms then tell GP to prescribe on a trial.
I hope you have some success as I am well aware of the stress our body can go through when our body doesn't react as we hoped.
I'm still reeling from my total lack of remembering I was prescribed this liquid levoroxine 🤯... I've been told to contact my surgery this coming Wednesday to see if my gp as agreed to prescribe it, I soupose I will just have to see if its the same formula 🤦♀️ I really hope it's not... For some reason since being diagnosed with lactose intolerants and colitis, most things affect my guts And stomach, I can feel the trigger food's and medication, I really wish it were not the case, I can't stomach most medication, aspirin, anti inflammatory drugs, T4, some painkillers, milk, cream, cheese, my diet is dairy free, the fillers seem to be the catalyst for my reaction to most meds... I went in to shock in 2015 when the nurse gave me some anti thyroid medsin hospital, I should no have been taking, they had to give me an injection to stop me going in to full blown shock.. 🤦♀️
That's an awful experience you've had and the result may mean that your body has become sensitive to certain things.
I cannot tolerate levothyroxine but am well on T3. Thankfully I've had this reinstated again thanks to a new GP in the surgery.
Thousands of people seem to be o.k. on levo but there's a lot of people who cannot and I doubt the 'experts' are aware of this. By 'experts' I don't mean the GPs as several have made stupid comments to me and I've told them 'that's incorrect'.
I was the same on T3 shaws it restored my T3 level, no gut issues just left a bad metallic taste in my mouth, unfortunately through another incomplete gp in 2020 my calcium went over range as did my parathyroid, 2 endos said I probably have primary hyperparathiyroidism still in limbo on this but gp insisted the T3 was to blame, I was so sick of her commenting on the fact T3 is bad.. If you come off all symptoms will go... So foolishly I did.. Symptoms didn't go so I asked to be put bk on T3 she refused saying I needed to see the endo for that... But endo prescribed liquid levoroxine instead,, wish my memory had been on the ball because I would have refused the liquid and gone bk on the T3... I will know once the liquid levoroxine gets in my system if its the same side affects, then I will demand I go bk on T3... 👍
