muscle twitching and high B6

I had a buzzing sensation in my foot and had blood drawn June 12. My B6 was 168 (high ref range 21). I stopped my multivitamin but am still having daily muscle twitching and it’s been 2 months already. Anyone with a similar issue?

I am also hypothyroid but still sub clinical and so not medicated (TSH hovers around 5, T3/T4 normal, elevated antibodies). All other labs normal.

Please add actual results and ranges

Always test thyroid levels early morning, ideally before 9am

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested.

Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum

Have you had coeliac blood test done

Or are you already on strictly gluten free diet

TSH- 5.19 T4- 1.2 (.8-1.8), T3 2.9 (2.3-4.2) , Reverse T3 15 (8-25) TaB 20 (< 1), TPO 276 (<9)

Vit D-49 (30-100)

Folate-20.5 (>5.4)

B12-455 (200-1100)

Ferritin 152 (16-232)

I’ve never been tested for celiac. I don’t have any digestive symptoms but could it be that anyway? . I’ve tried gluten free but am not currently. I know I need to go back to it! The twitching is really starting to freak me out. I thought if it was just B6 overload it would be better by now (?)

Are you taking vitamin D

Are you taking any magnesium supplements.

Low magnesium can cause muscle twitching

I haven’t taken any supplements since June. I’ll give magnesium a try. Thank you!

I couldn't find any positive treatments for excess B6. Just stop taking it.

The treatment for B6 toxicity is to stop the exogenous B6. Patients may continue to have symptom progression for 2–3 weeks following the discontinuation of vitamin B6 before a gradual improvement starts, a phenomenon known as coasting.

Hello.

Did your twitching improve after you stopped taking the multivitamin?

I had horrible muscle twitches when my hypothyroidism was sub-clinical. It improved with treatment. I felt miserable with a TSH of 4.6.
