After many years trying to get my surgery to do a full Thyroid test & eventually getting one done I would welcome a Thyroid phone line. My results came back ‘abnormal’ & subsequently sent to the Hospital Endocrinologist. I’ve now been waiting 14 weeks for the next stage but not sure this will ever happen.

Have you got a print out of your results? You know your entitled to them (legally). People always say get patient access, but I can say my patient access has been more doctored than I have been. They stuffed up getting me onto thyroxine and I told them. The records pertaining to this then disappeared- funny……
As I had already taken screenshots of the records so can now compare the differences 😂. Never trust a Trust!
Hi Charley-Farley I’ve never had a printout of anything from my Surgery. Diagnosed with Hypothyroidism 24years ago by another surgery but been with this one 20 years. They are only mildly interested in my T2 Diabetes unfortunately.
You might need to actually ask for a printout.
Some have access to a mobile phone app (most in England - fewer, if any, in the other nations of the UK) and can see test results there.
Hardly any of us are actually offered copies of test results.
Try to get a few back as well- say you are going to work at improving your health and need to look at bloods results to see what needs improvement. Honestly, I’ve never had a problem. Once doc has seen them at our surgery they are available. One good thing about our surgery.
Have GPs so stretched and pressured got time to say yay or nay to people having access to their results - which they are legally entitled to anyway? 😜👍
Thank you Helvetia - I have a diabetes appointment in 3 weeks time so maybe I can get a printout when I go there.
Back in 2014 I delivered a letter to my surgery saying that I wanted a complete copy of my GP records. At the time it cost £50, but I consider it to have been money well spent. I found records of surgeries that I'd had throughout life and was able to compare what actually happened, with what the doctor/surgeon had actually written, and then compared that to how it was summarised in my GP records. The three never agreed. But at least I now had partial evidence of what actually happened and I always take copies of the most important pages with me to appointments just in case they come in handy.
Getting physical copies of records is always worthwhile, although I would have preferred to have them on CD rather than paper, so I could just print them out as necessary.
Getting copies of records is now free thanks to a change in the law. It is a good idea to get them physically. As has already been mentioned, once records get made available online as soon as the patient brings up a problem the evidence is often removed from view. I doubt they delete it completely, but they might for all I know. So, get a complete copy while you can.
If you choose just to get some more recent records, then I would suggest that you ask for copies of blood test results from the last three years.
