Good morning lovely people

Thanks to your advice I got my levothyroxine increased!

I made an appointment for a telephone consultation with the GP. The day before the appointment I sent her a letter explaining why I needed an increase and I included Dr Toft's Pulse article (thanks to brilliant TUK for emailing it to me so quickly).

Ten minutes before she rang I received a letter from her saying that my levothyroxine level is currently in the right range and lack of it is not causing my symptoms. She suggested I stay on 50 mcg and have another blood test in December!

Well, I was dismayed, but to my complete surprise the first thing she said to me was "I've read your letter and I'll write you a prescription for 75 mcgs." I was gobsmacked!

I had to tell her I needed 3 x 25mcgs of Wockhardt because I must not change brands when changing dose and she said that she didn't know that and I seem to know a lot about it. 😁

Thank you all again. I couldn't have done it without you.

I also say '"well done" as it can sometime take courage to say what we want to, hoping the doctor/endo will listen.

This is wonderful so pleased for you. If you need to ‘argue’ your case for another dose increase whilst in range have a gander at my profile. I ‘argued’ for dose increases whilst in range. A lot to write in a post, but there on my profile for anyone who wants to read it. 😊👍

Thank you, I'll take a look.

I'm just feeling lucky that the GP changed her mind after reading my letter (maybe she thought she couldn't argue with TUK?).

When I read the letter she'd sent to me, I just thought there was no hope that she'd listen, so I was very surprised. There's no way I could have stayed on 50 mcg until December!

I found the whole thing very stressful, and we shouldn't be put through this every time we want a dose change, blood test etc!

Best wishes.

I know, I had terrible anxiety every time, but prepared in advance and sent in reports for the last 2 dose increases with spreadsheets of results and scientific references and summary in support using NHS guidelines. Also for me the telecon was an advantage as this gave me the opportunity to have all my paperwork spread out and to hand. 😊👍

Well done

Perhaps initially only increase by 12.5mcg (cut 25mcg tablets in half) ….see how you get on

TSH:1 .2 (0.35-4.94)

FT3: 4.2 (2.9-4.9) 65%

FT4 :13.9 (9.0-19.0) 49%

Yes, that's what I intended do, but if the tablets crumble to dust I was going to take 75 mcg eod, if that's ok?

Cut with sharp craft scalpel or get a pill cutter

Mop up any crumbs with damp finger

Oh, and I was going to take 50 mcg in the morning and 12.5 at bedtime as I'd read that some people feel better splitting the dose, or is that a silly idea?
