Assuming that you did the test as we always advise:
* No later than 9am
* Nothing to eat or drink except water befor the test
* Last dose of Levo 24 hours before the test
* No biotin, B Complex or any supplement containing biotin for 3-7 days before the test
then if all your nutrients are at optimal levels your FT4 slightly over range and your FT3 at 35.14% through range shows poor conversion of T4 to T3.
Thank you SeasideSusie, that’s what I thought. The comments with the test suggested the I was hyper! Now for the difficult part in trying to convince the GP!
Dr Toft, past president of the British Thyroid Association and leading endocrinologist, states in Pulse Magazine (the professional publication for doctors):
"The appropriate dose of levothyroxine is that which restores euthyroidism and serum TSH to the lower part of the reference range - 0.2-0.5mU/l. In this case, free thyroxine is likely to be in the upper part of its reference range or even slightly elevated – 18-22pmol/l. Most patients will feel well in that circumstance. But some need a higher dose of levothyroxine to suppress serum TSH and then the serum-free T4 concentration will be elevated at around 24-28pmol/l. This 'exogenous subclinical hyperthyroidism' is not dangerous as long as serum T3 is unequivocally normal – that is, serum total around T3 1.7nmol/l (reference range 1.0-2.2nmol/l).*"
*He confirmed, during a talk he gave to The Thyroid Trust in November 2018 that this applies to Free T3 as well as Total T3 and this is when on Levo only. You can hear this at 1 hour 19 mins to 1 hour 21 minutes in this video of that talk youtu.be/HYhYAVyKzhw

Assuming your vitamins are optimal …..looking at previous posts …you have previously had extremely low irin levels
Are Thriva going to retest vitamin levels?
GP could/should do full iron panel test to check iron and ferritin
What vitamin supplements are you currently taking?
I stopped all supplements before test, but will start again today. Im taking B12 and vitamin b complex, ferrous fumarate, and vitamin D.I have tested negative for celiac and helicopter pylori
On my last test, my ferritin had dropped to 17 and because my FBC was normal, the doctors have decided not to do anything further. I asked if I should take iron and she said I could if I liked and to stop if it didn’t agree with me. To this day, they have refused to do an iron test. Had a blood test 10 days ago and ferritin wasn’t included 😩
I give up!
GP useless then
Medichecks do full iron panel test
Suggest you consider trying strictly gluten free diet
Also consider an ultrasound scan of thyroid (£100)

Thanks SD, I’ve had an ultrasound scan of all my neck glands and thyroid apparently okay. I will think about doing a Medichecks test. I’ve started a low carb diet, so will ease into gluten free. I got keto poisoning when I did it last time so need to go slowly.
9 months ago your ferritin was dropped right back to 34
GP should be investigating possible cause
Have you had coeliac blood test done?
Undiagnosed gluten intolerance can cause low nutrient levels
Iron and ferritin
retest 3-4 times a year if self supplementing.

Once you get all four vitamins optimal, if Ft3 doesn’t improve you will need T3 prescribed alongside levothyroxine.
Has to be initiated via endocrinologist
Roughly where in U.K. are you
Email Thyroid U.K. for list of recommended thyroid specialist endocrinologist and doctors who will prescribe T3
