Those results are all in range.

Do you have a diagnosed condition & taking any form of thyroid replacement?

The advice is different depending on if you are as yet undiagnosed compared to if already started treating low thyroid levels.

Are you feeling well?

Hi I’m on thyroxine just changing to a new endo really wanted to know what my results mean. Although I’m in the range I’m not well and haven’t been for a few years now. I’ve had hashimotos for 23 years but the last 8 years have been awful . The previous endo did give me a prescription for t3 to see if that helped but I had to try to source it myself. The NHS won’t fund that. I never found a source I felt I could trust then Covid hit so I never tried it.

Do you mean the endo issued a private prescription?

Is new endo private or NHS? Ask endo for new prescription.

This link explains how you can obtain lio using private prescription.

Or

Other steps to take-

Your FT4 is 66% so you could increase a little to see if rise helps.

Your FT3 is 33% so that is low and you show poor conversion.

Poor nutrients can contribute to low conversion.

Test Folate, Ferritin, B12 & Vitamin. Work on getting optimal & FT3 may rise without need for Lio. if low FT3 persists endo should support T3.

You would hope new endo would want to work with you and test, but often will not or don’t think relevant.

You might make faster progress with private test before appointment.

Yes it was a private prescription. The new one has already given me the blood test forms to be done a week before my first appointment just waiting for the appointment date. I’m already taking lots of vitamins including vitamin D, B12, magnesium, C+zinc, omega3 . None of them seem to worry if the tsh looks ok they don’t care that I feel awful.

Welcome to the forum

How much levothyroxine are you currently taking

Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription

Was test done early morning, ideally before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

When were vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 last tested

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

Please add vitamin results

As you have Hashimoto’s, have you had coeliac blood test done

Are you on strictly gluten free diet

Hello I’m on 100 thyroxine it varies on which brand they have in the chemist. It was done late morning unfortunately I struggle to go before 9am due to rheumatoid arthritis and early mornings are extremely difficult. I had taken my thyroxine that morning but I have had bloods when I hadn’t taken it. Vitamin d etc was done recently vitamin b12 333ng/l folate 15.1ng/ml . Can’t see the results for any others but vitamin d has been up and down for a few years.

I take vitamin b, c+zinc ,d, magnesium, omega 3 .

They haven’t done a Coeliac test but my previous endo told me to go gluten-free 7 years ago. I have been ever since then. If I ever have any gluten by mistake it makes me violently ill so gluten is definitely not my friend 😂.

B12 is too low

What vitamin B complex are you currently taking

supplementing a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid)

This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and will help improve B12 levels too

Difference between folate and folic acid

Many Hashimoto’s patients have MTHFR gene variation and can have trouble processing folic acid.

B vitamins best taken after breakfast

Thorne Basic B or Jarrow B Right are recommended options that contains folate, but both are large capsules. (You can tip powder out if can’t swallow capsule)

IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate methyl folate supplement and separate B12

With serum B12 result below 500, (Or active B12 below 70) recommended to be taking a B12 supplement as well as a B Complex (to balance all the B vitamins) initially for first 2-4 months.

once your serum B12 is over 500 (or Active B12 level has reached 70), stop the B12 and just carry on with the B Complex.

Once vitamins are all optimal….if Ft3 remains low likely to need addition of T3 prescribed alongside levothyroxine

If you had taken levothyroxine before blood test then Ft4 is falsely high

Approx how much do you weigh in kilo

Discuss with GP trialing small 12.5mcg dose increase in levothyroxine (cutting 25mcg tablet in half)

Retest in 6-8 weeks
