Does dosage often need to be reduced in later years? I find symptoms such as irregular heart beat and over heating have increased with age.

Not necessarily. Irregular heart beat in older age can just be due to things wearing out. Who's to say why these things happen when we get older? I have had quite a few episodes of sporadic tachycardia over the last few years, now seems to be stable on a low dose beta blocker, but it's nothing to do with my thyroid or the dose of thyroid meds I take.

I haven't needed to reduce my dose, in fact I've gone from Levo alone to a lower dose of Levo plus some T3 which when you work out the T4 equivalent of the T3 I take the total equivalent T4 is probably higher than when I was taking Levo only, but I am better for it and my FT4 and FT3 are in much better places when on Levo only.

Look at your FT4 and FT3 - are they in range and reasonably well balanced? Also take into account how you feel.

Are your nutrient levels optimal - Vit D, B12, Folate and Ferritin?
