Hi All - any advice regarding my results would be most helpful please. Do I need Nutri-Aid or similar? I have tried a supplement about an hour before bed with Ashwanga in it and I was lights on and no one at home until at least lunchtime the next day! Suffice to say I stopped taking it!😀

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested
plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once
Do you have autoimmune thyroid disease
Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially with autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto’s or Ord’s thyroiditis) usually diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies
20% of autoimmune thyroid patients never have high thyroid antibodies and ultrasound scan of thyroid can get diagnosis
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally before 9am, last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
If on NDT or T3 day before test split dose into 2 or 3 smaller doses spread through the day and last dose approx 8-12 hours before test
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

Hello thank you for your reply. I have Hashimotos Thyroiditis and have for over 10 years. Diagnosed by an excellent endocrinologist. I had lots of tests and scans at that time. I take 2.5 Thyroid S. 2 on waking and 1/2 at midday on an empty stomach. I don’t take any vitamins at present. Here are my recent results from Medichecks.

Was test done early morning, before 9am
So day before test your last dose was lunchtime
Ideally you would move last dose to between 9pm and midnight
Folate and Vitamin D are too low
Vitamin D at least around 80nmol minimum and around 100nmol maybe better
GP will often only prescribe to bring vitamin D levels to 50nmol. Some CCG areas will prescribe to bring levels to 75nmol or even 80nmol

Low folate supplementing a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid)

HiFirst of all let me say I don't know anything about thyroid problems and am not medically trained but I have a feeling your transferrin saturation result seems high. When I had a high result on a blood test years ago, after investigation it was found that I had hemochromatosis (too much iron in the blood) which is easily solved by having venesection, which is like giving blood. As I say I'm no expert but I do think it would be worth mentioning to your GP to get it checked.
My iron levels are high - you are quite right but my doctor isn’t interested. I don’t know if you can “just go and give blood” anymore because they don’t need it, I was told. I really appreciate your help. Loolah 😊

HiWell ur tsh is so low , that is causing the acth to release more from ur pituitary and hence increased cortisol, thyroid s will not help u as much as a combo of t4 and t3 as u can bring ur tsh between 0.4 and 0.03 , and ur iron , ferritin tsats will get normalised as well.I know ur t3 and t4 are normal but as soon as u shift to combo ur t3 will improve as well with the tsh I told

I am trying to spread the word that adding mannitol as an excipient, commonly done when reformulating, stops drugs from working for about a quarter of people.
The French government ordered the manufacturers to continue with the original formula as well as the new one.
The French had demonstrated against the change. I believe the new formula of SThyroid has added Mannitol. It no longer works for me.
I had to go to France, got a prescription and bought a year's supply of Euthyrox.
This evidently upsets all sorts of people's medications, and they don't know why..
Could you let us know where we can find the full list of excipients for Thyroid S?
Good evening Helvella - sadly they won’t give them to you. I tried fairly recently as I didn’t feel like Thyroid S was working. I asked if the ingredients had changed but they won’t disclose it I’m afraid ☹️

I'm trying to understand why phenelope is claiming they now contain mannitol. If the company won't tell us what the ingredients are, I don't understand how anything like that can be claimed.
Mannitol makes medicine bypass my system. It has been recorded reference sorbitol. Another sugar alcohol. It seems to be slippery and makes pills a bit glossy.
The medicines that have failed for me have all looked glossy when reformulated.
A large number of French people demonstrated, as their reformulated levothyroxine did not work for them any more. You can look it up. It worked for most people, and for a significant minority it did not.
It seems as if lactose is often being replaced with mannitol.
SO, I only have the proof of the pudding........

I have asked if Mannitol is used in the production of this tablet and they have checked this out and confirmed that it isn’t.
