Just over 3 weeks ago we had our twin baby girls arrive in this world! They are perfectly healthy, beautiful and we are absolutely overjoyed. Since my diagnosis of hypo & hashi in 2018, this group solely became my bedrock of learning, knowledge, support & guidance. I had some testing times and there are no words that can express my gratitude for the support I received especially from greygoose and SlowDragon and many others along the years. Just a reminder, I don’t use the services of a regular endocrinologist, for reasons only the people here will understand. I will always be grateful for the endless support and hope I am able to help others here too.

Congratulations, how lovely. Hope your doing well. as SeasideSusie says enjoy every minute, before you know it they'll be all grown up. Pregnancy can be so overwhelming physically and mentally so take care of yourselves, and your girls.
I have read that the thyroid can sometimes go a bit haywire after giving birth, so it might be a good idea to increase the frequency of testing for the first 12 months if you get any symptoms you think might be thyroid related. Also, get your nutrients tested, in case they've dropped as a result of being pregnant. And if you are breast feeding it would be a good idea to test nutrients more often than usual too, for your health and for your twins.
Did you have any aggro about your thyroid from doctors, nurses or midwives during pregnancy? I'm curious about what they might have said about you dealing with your thyroid yourself.
Very many thanks humanbean; your advice on testing thyroid and nutrients noted. I had a hashi hyper swing in early pregnancy and corresponding swing back and yes I may also need to relook at possibilities of introducing T3. But for now I’m just revelling in the joy and having a break!
I’m from Saudi Arabia and currently based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and the maternity care systems here are very different from what I noted in London. From the thyroid perspective my gynae consultant who is head of obs & gynae was very understanding; just to make life easier I routinely maintain that my endo is in Saudi, no need to explain my endo specialists actually reside at Thyroid U.K. 😁. My gynae consultant did suggest that I see an endo at the same hospital but never insisted. I routinely manage my own thyroid panel blood tests and shared my results with her and she was more than happy with that. Nurses and midwives only ever follow what the consultant orders; I think this is where we differ from the U.K. as the ultimate management is with your main consultant gynae throughout.
