My wife is T3 only and gets her T3 on NHS prescription filled by the local Well chemist. They're currently having problems getting the medication from their suppliers. They also say that Mercury and Morningside no longer produce 20mcg tablets. Only 10mcg T3 tablets are available (and the chemist is having problems getting supplies of those as well). This comes as a surprise to us because we've always been told that Morningside and Mercury only produce 20mcg tablets and she's been taking those since 2010. The chemist can supply Teva T3 but for whatever reason they don't suit my wife. Just wondering if anyone else is having problems getting supplies of Mercury or Morningside T3?

The article below might be behind some of the issues members have had obtaining prescription medicines in the UK.
3 wholesalers servicing 4,000 pharmacies go into administration
Three wholesalers jointly providing pharmaceutical products to 4,000 pharmacies in the UK have “ceased to trade with immediate effect”, the appointed administrators have announced.
Doncaster Pharmaceuticals Group Limited, Testerworld Limited, and Eclipse Generics Limited appointed American consulting firm Kroll on Monday (May 9) to oversee the process of administration, Kroll wrote in a statement to C+D today (May 12).
Headquartered in Doncaster and Gosforth, the companies “today” serve about 4,000 pharmacies and operate from 14 UK locations, with a “turnover of around £300 million”, Kroll wrote.
The three companies trade “under the Doncaster Pharmaceuticals, DE Group, Crosspharma and Eclipse brands” and are part of the Converse Pharma Group.
“The joint administrators are working with the relevant authorities to provide support to those employees affected by today’s announcements,” the spokesperson said.
There is a bit more of this story here:
I recently collected my Morningside Liothyronine from my hospital. I got 3 months supply but they are 5mcg size.
A few days ago the pharmacy I use managed to get 4 tubs of 20mcg Mercury liothyronine and with a decent expiry date.
Thanks - as a matter of interest which pharmacy was that? We normally use Well but they don't seem to be able to get Mercury or Morningside from their suppliers. We're going to try another pharmacy next week - fingers crossed.
Thanks. Interesting that they can supply 5mcg tablets nowadays. When my wife first started T3, her GP checked whether anything smaller than 20mcg was available in the UK and, at that time apparently, 20mcg tablets were all you could get in the UK. That wasn't a problem because she just split them so she could take several 10mcg doses per day.
It's good to see 5 and 10mcg tablets are now available but I'm just wondering whether it's a wheeze to make more money. I say that because, according to BHF, the NHS pay just about £100 for 28 tablets (5 and 10mcg) but about £70 for 28 tablets (20mcg). You have to wonder what's going on, especially as T3 is a generic drug and should be cheap as chips (like it used to be and like it is in other countries).
