fatigue or something else?

Hi

I’m having a very bad time at the moment with varied symptoms. I’m completely unsure if the cause or how to address it.

My bloods for hypothyroidism are fine and all in range, as I’d expect.

I have however developed an inner tremor that’s almost undetectable and I feel sick most of the time. I have breakouts of heat lumps all over my body. Feel very weak at times and struggle to keep upright!

I’m very anxious and feel overwhelmed.

Could this be adrenal fatigue- I know very little about it or low b12/iron/folate??

I’ m aware I’m asking a lot, but has anyone developed these symptoms and if so how did you combat them.

Any help greatly appreciated

Lx

Internal trembling is a common problem for people with too little cortisol OR too much. Being very anxious and unable to cope with stress is another sign of possible adrenal / cortisol issues.

Sometimes people can see a tremor that can't otherwise be seen by holding their arms out in front of them with their hands out and the backs of their hands uppermost. Then place a piece of paper on the backs of the hands. The piece of paper may show the tremor.

As for feeling weak and finding it hard to stay upright that could be adrenal / cortisol.

But be aware that people can confuse low cortisol symptoms with high cortisol symptoms and vice versa, and it is best to actually test to be sure - please don't try to guess. The best test is a saliva cortisol test.

Read the entries for Regenerus and Genova Diagnostics UK on this link :

The tests themselves can be found here :

Genova keeps patients at arm's length and won't deal with them directly. Regenerus is a lot easier to deal with.

Thank you humanbean I will order a test. Having had a quick read this morning, it would seem some of my symptoms fit the criteria, but as you say it’s best to test.

It’s been a stressful few months and I have suffered a bad infection, resulting in an abolition, which I think hasn’t worked ☹️

I will post the results when I have them.

Again thank you for your response x

Maybe a magnesium a supplement or magnesium soak or sprays or lotions (there’s various types, so one that’s best for relaxation and sleep), it can have calming properties and help sleep. If you are ok with adaptogenic herbs, Ashwaganda is another relaxing one.

Saffrasun is another supplement.

Obviously I’m not aware of medication or history of your health so do speak to your primary health care provider first before taking anything.

I’m just aware of these are supposedly good for bringing calm which helps anxiety.

Obviously try minimise stress get good sleep and eat a rich diverse diet would be my choice before embarking on anything.

Many women go through problems of anxiety bought on my pre, peri and menopause and it’s not just those over 45 it can happen earlier too, and post menopausal, if hormones are a problem getting these balanced and that can take time can help.

Cortisol is usually the fight flight freeze hormone and given we are all getting back to normal from a pandemic many are feeling overwhelmed at the moment.

Thank you it’s is very helpful.I’m going to do the test to see where I am. I use magnesium in the bath and it does calm me & help me sleep. The stress is in the forefront atm as my son has just been diagnosed with Graves- a very worrying time. So until that is sorted( as best as it can) I’ll be in a heightened state.

Hello there :

Have you ever had a diagnosis of why you are hypothyroid ?

It just could be that you have Hashimoto's AI thyroid disease and your immune system response has been triggered by your son's recent diagnosis.

There's generally a genetic predisposition to Graves as detailed in my previous post.

Just a thought ?

Hi, yes I have Hashimoto’s, but with diet etc the antibodies were good last time I tested, but yes it could definitely have triggered a response and I may have had a ‘storm’ too.I’ll check it all if the cortisol test comes back okay. Expensive business, but no use asking GP 😕. Thanks Lx
