No thyroid, removed 21 years go on Levo only since. Was over medicated for years and had various health problems probably due to that. 3 years ago I had terrible thigh pain (after having two hip replacements), thought it was the implants however I switched from Actavis to MP and the pain disappeared. Recently it has come back and once again thought it was the implant but it may be the MP levothyroxine?! Perhaps I need another change of brand. I take 100 x 5 and 2 x 0.75 of T4 per week. My ferratin is low about 24. Anyne aware of a change in fllers of the MP brand of levo. or the Wockhardt. Thank you.

Pain in thighs
On levothyroxine we need OPTIMAL vitamin levels
Ferritin is dire at 24
GP should be doing full iron panel test for anaemia
Have they done so
Are you now on iron supplements ?
Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after each dose change or brand change in levothyroxine
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested.
Essential to test Ft3
Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum
When were vitamin levels last tested
Low vitamin levels leads to poor conversion of Ft4 to Ft3
Low Ft3 leads to low vitamin levels….so it’s chicken and egg
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally before 9am last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

Hello again :
Looking back I see you have been asking about low ferritin for a couple of years :
As I understand things no thyroid hormone replacement work effectively until ferritin is at least over 70:
Can't really add much more to what I have already replied to you - did you get my PM months ago ?
How long ago did you have hips replaced?
One 5 years and one 8 years ago.
Thank you. Oddly I convert well but have always had low ferratin.
Anybody on Levothyroxine needs to monitor iron and take an iron supplement, Levothyroxine depletes iron levels, it's why folks feel OK to start with then the fatigue comes back, 14mg x2 a day until the level comes back up, or a good multivitamin with iron and an iron supplement 14mg take 3-4 hrs away from Levothyroxine.
Also thigh pain if it's muscular you might have low vitamin D and/or magnesium plus calcium magnesium is needed for making vitamin D bioavailable in the liver. Calcium-magnesium-vitamin k2 vitamin D3 are needed for bone and muscular health. Vitamin D3 needs to be about 100nmol on your blood test, to get the full benefits from D3.
You've said you've had your hips replaced what's your Progesterone and Estrogen levels like when it comes to bone health, estrogen initiates old bone removal, osteoblas. and progesterone initiates new bone building osteoclas. Sooo if you've been estrogen dominant for yrs it's likely another or tge primary reason for osteoarthritis
Hope this helps
No they say it is in the normal range!! I have just recently started Better You iron 10 spray. Very early days. I have been anaemic for most of my life. I eat a little red meat and plenty of green veg but will see if his supplement works.
