Endo Update

So I’ve just received a call from the surgery to say that the doctors heard back from the endocrinologist and he’s going to get his secretary to make me an urgent appointment.

I should be happy about this but it’s the same one I seen before,apparently he’s not retired🤦‍♀️This should be interesting,I’ll be a different patient from the one he had before,I can assure you of that👍

Take a written list of things you want to cover, so you don't get overwhelmed (or over-powered) - and ideally a MAN with you [for some reason endos treat us much better when there's some Y chromosome our side of the table x

They don’t allow you to take anyone due to covid🙄I’ll be more than ready for him I can assure you,he’s the kind that likes to interrupt you,I’ll not be standing for that this time!I remember asking him once about a connection with low vitamin d and hypothyroidism,as he was answering me he was up out the chair and opening the door,he’ll be in for a shock if he does that this time.

I can’t help feeling a little suspicious though🤔it’s like ever since I asked for a copy of my medical records they seem to be bending over backwards for me🤷‍♀️My local hospital bounced it back to the GP and said it was the original endo who had to see me,maybe I’m just reading too much into it.

I’m feeling more confident in going forward with this and that’s all thanks to you wonderful humans on here,I’ll be forever indebted to you all❤️

Tell doctors you are hard of hearing and have problems remembering everything that is said in doctor appointments. Then you can take a man with you into the appointment. You can blame any memory issues on your thyroid condition.

Another possibility is that you could record what is said on a gadget of some kind. Whether you tell the doctor what you are doing is up to you. I've never done this and don't know how well they would react.

Tbh I’m better by myself my other half is hopeless🙄I was actually thinking about recording it.

Thank you so much🙏I’m going to ask him if I can record it,the BMA says that’s the best way,if he refuses then I’ll just get my notebook and pen out and start taking notes.

I don't know why doctors are so slow in helping their patients.

All of our 'old school' doctors knew all clinical symptoms and treated the patients without the need of blood tests.

They prescribed Natural Dessicated Thyroid hormones, made from animals' thyroid glands from 1892 and this product saved lives - before 1892 they used to die as there was no replcement previously.

Why did those 'at the top of the tree' and supposed to be skilled about a dysfunctional thyroid gland and symptoms, seem to know nothing at all and even has removed thyroid hormone replacements that had shown proof of their results by restoring patients' health. i.e. they've removed NDTs altogether despite it being the very original. They also removed T3 but were forced to reinstate it. Why can they not restore NDTs?

The same as everything else in our wonderful health care,the cost!It’s needing a complete overhaul,starting by getting rid of the bigwigs on crazy amounts of money for doing practically nothing.

I work for the nhs and they do waste a lot of money,it infuriates me that they don’t treat thyroid patients correctly,and they know they don’t!

If this one starts trying to fob me off I’m just going to stop him in his tracks by saying,the patient charter states,I have a right to expect everyone to have the skills and knowledge to do their job,if he can’t see that T3 is the most important hormone in the body then he clearly lacks the skill and knowledge.

PrincessAnnie you are certainly going down the road that will make you very popular (I'm sure 😜).

A GP phoned me a few days after a blood test to state:-

Your TSH is too low, your T3 too high and your T4 too low.

Yes doctor I know. My TSH is low because I take T3 alone and T4 is low because I take none.

GP but T3 converts to T4! No doctor that's not true, it is the other way around i.e. T4 should convert to T3.

It’s honestly disgraceful,the gp told me they don’t really know the ins and outs of T3 and T4 and I said,well at least you’re honest,I’m wishing now I had said,neither did I,but a quick goggle search told me🤷‍♀️I think they do know really but they’ve got to stick to the cover up of,you’re in the normal range,to avoid the people that don’t improve on levothyroxine.

I think when students they're given a very brief lesson on anything to do with the thyroid gland, and I also thnk it must have been so short they remember nothing about the importance of how it works within our body, i.e. that brain and heart have the most T3 receptor cells and our body has to have optimum each day for us to function as the brain and heart have the most T3 receptor cells.

You may have read this excerpt before -

GPs answer "but T3 converts to T4". No doctor that's incorrect it's the other way around. This doctor must have been near his 60's.
