Morning!

Ok so I’ve been on T3 only for a couple of years now. I’ve gradually built up to around 55-60mcg per day split twice.

Over the last year or so I’ve experimented a bit with doses, as I found 60mcg great but after a while I was breathless and as I was slightly over range at that point I dropped it to around 57,5mcg. Immediately my muscle weakness returned so although I’d like to return to 60, I didn’t until recently.

Alongside this, I’ve had issues with fluctuations progesterone levels, which in turn would mean I felt fab for three weeks of the month, then rubbish for a week to 10 days at the start of my cycle. So I recently (as in -0 days ago) started on progestogen only replacement.

I didn’t expect the results I got! Whilst I wondered if adding in the progestogen would help utilise the thyroid hormone, I wasn’t sure if it would, and I certainly didn’t think it would happen so fast. However I have no “over” symptoms that I have had before and I feel fine. I do still have some muscle weakness but I’m aware that can happen with too much or too little replacement, so I’m happy to ignore that for now.

Bloods were done fasting as always, slightly earlier than normal but my last dose the night before was slightly earlier too, so I would have expected that to make any difference.

Can anyone throw any light on this?

Hi, I hope someone more knowledgeable will answer you, but my first thought is that your FT3 is too high (I’m good at stating the obvious). With the research I am doing to convince my endo that I am not over medicated I have read that FT3 level over range can cause some serious issues. They are - osteoporosis and heart issues.

My FT3 is below range, but my TSH is 0.01 like yours and I’m getting grief from my endo and GP 🤨

Are you concerned with your FT3 that high?

Did you leave 12ish hours since your last dose before your blood test?

Have you thought of taking your T3 in 3 doses rather than 2? You might be able to reduce the amount you take and feel ok. And therefore your level might reduce.

Sorry I can’t be of better help.
