HC 10mg not working?

Hi.

I've been on HC 10mg for the past few weeks for adrenal fatigue.

The thing is I feel awful. I feel off balance and fatigue has been worse. I also feel very teary and just really emotional.

Do I need to give it some time or am I taking it completely wrong?!

I take it at 8.30am in the morning and then LDN 2.5ml at 9.30am.

Any help from former users will be much appreciated.

As your HC is prescribed, it would probably be better to discuss with your GP and he can speak to the endo again if necessary.

It might also be worth doing a thyroid function test to see if there's anything going on there - TSH, FT4 and FT3.

Thank you. I was wondering if someone that's using it or used it for more information as GP's hardly know how to advise on matters this this.

I read about someone who metabolised HC too quickly, and therefore felt better on a synthetic version (prednisone or Medrol). They are converted to cortisol in the body and last for about 24 hours. The equivalent dose would be 2.5 mg of pred or 2 mg of Medrol. Was your HC prescribed by your GP or your endo?

Hi.

It was by my gp through the endo. I see her end of March.

Do you think the time might affect this at all?

Thank you

No, if you only take 10 mg daily (so not a full replacement dose), it´s usually recommended to take it in the morning to support the adrenal glands when they are busiest.

10mg can make you feel worse. I needed 20mg and sometimes more if I was under stress. I was on HC for 6 months but decided no more as I wasn't willing to risk it long term. My saviour has been pregnenolone and Armour thyroid. My cortisol levels are much better now and I feel like my light switch has turned back on.

This is what I'm waiting for, the light switch.

I'm not really feeling this HC and I doubt my endo will increase further as I've increase fro. 5mg to 10mg myself.

Did you taper off or went cold turkey?

Many thanks x

No please don't go cold turkey. It may be easier for you only being on 10mg to reduce by 2.5mg every week and get off it that way. I replaced with 50 mg of pregnenolone and it makes me feel so much better than HC ever did. It's also cheap and easy to get. Read up Ray Peat on pregnenolone.
