Hashimoto's and problems to conceive - How to fix it!

Dear all,

I wanted to share my experience and also the experience of a friend of mine. We both have Hashi's and, after a very "easy" first baby, we spent years trying to conceive a second. My doctor (integrative medicine) increased my dosage of levo to make TSH < 2, as he said that pregnancy was very difficult if TSH levels were even a little bit elevated. The first month when my TSH dropped below 2, I got pregnant! (mind you, I had been 4 years even with issues of irregularity, I think that in 4 years I got my period only around 10 times...).

I rushed to tell my friend who is in a similar situation, she got her dose increased and, after only 2 months, she is pregnant!

Please please please if you find yourself with problems to conceive try increasing your levo.

Best,

S.

Most “good” Endos will aim to get TSH to 1 or below as the target for optimum treatment. So targeting less than 2 for pregnancy only is actually the wrong approach, given every hypo patient should be aiming to get below 1.
