Well ….no clear request to GP to run coeliac blood test, etc

Or were tests done at the hospital

No mention of low Ft3

Your Ft4 was only high as you took levothyroxine just before blood test and many thyroid patients have TSH that low when adequately treated

Likely now becoming under medicated/low Ft3

It says coeliac serology and b12 and auto antibodies to be tested at the bottom of letter my gp reduced me to 100mg on 22 nd Dec and private rests were done 5th jan

As long as GP understands endocrinologist is requesting GP organise these tests

So Medichecks test was only 2 weeks after dose reduction

May see Ft3 drop lower at next test

What's good about it? He doesn't actually say anything that your GP - presumably - doesn't already know. He doesn't lay out a treatment plan, just talks about reducing levo due to suppressed TSH, which isn't in the least bit good when your FT3 is so low. And, if he already knows you have Hashi's, why is he retesting the antibodies? That's just a waste of time and money.

I guess endocrinologist has to repeat tests as they “won’t accept “ private test results……even though private tests are frequently done at same lab as NHS use

What a waste of resources!

I don't think Minnie43 has ever been told whether her antibodies......either Graves or Hashi's have been tested......

[Edit] Oops, yes a few posts back - Hashi's confirmed

Yup. And it says at the top of the letter: Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. So, he knows.

What would he mean by other autoimmune diseases?

Coeliac Disease, diabetes, Shogren's syndrome, Pernicious Anemia, there are many, many other autoimmune diseases you could have. And, if you have one, you're more likely to develop another. Although that doesn't always happen. I have Hashi's, but no other autoimmune diseases. :)

As greygoose said, there are many, but we don't get screened for them on the NHS, unless we present with symptoms for a particular condition (the only exception is coeliac) Labtests online are useful for initial research. Here's what they say about autoantibody profile testing.

I doubt a GP has the authority to do this testing. The Endo is not expecting your NHS GP to do this test.

He said as I was seeing him privately he could only recommend to my gp what he thinks should be tested He has given me a form to get them done privately but said let's see how you go with gp first

How long had you been on 100mcg levothyroxine when did Medichecks test

This doesn’t show improvement…it shows dropping Ft4 and low Ft3

TSH: 0.24 (0.27-4.20)

FT4: 16.3 (12-22)

FT3: 4.37 (3.1-6.8)

Ft4 only 43% through range

Ft3 on 33% through range

Folate was deficient in Medichecks test.
