I am taking Levothyroxine Sodium for my hypothyroidism. When I took methimazole when I was hyper I read pineapples were a fruit to avoid. Should I still avoid pineapples? I have read great things about it and trying to eat healthy with fruits and vegetable juices and would love to know if pineapples are okay for hypothyroid or will it interfere with my medication ?

Pineapples and Thyroid medication
I asked my endo about this; reply was that you’ve got to eat a huge amount of pineapple (or grapefruit) for them to affect results.
I read recently that pineapples contain iodine so I think thats why you were told to avoid them when your thyroid was hyper , I dont think it would matter so much when hypo but idk
Hi KimNot heard that one but I know grapefruit interferes with blood pressure meds. Also if you have ever taken those supplements you can buy for Skin. Hair & Nails I read the leaflet and because they contain Biotin it says they interfere with Thyroid readings. Go easy on the fruit and juices too. To much can raise your blood sugar levels which is not good. Not to mention you may think you are going all out to be healthy but you may gain weight eating and drinking too much.
Can't win can we.
Thank you. No we can’t win with this it seems! I also take bcomplex which has Biotin!!
