Brief description of the problem

Accord-UK Ltd are recalling the above batch of Levothyroxine Tablets BP 50 micrograms as a precautionary measure due to out of specification results for tablet hardness obtained during stability testing. This issue may result in tablets that crumble or break when removed from the packaging.

Advice for healthcare professionals

Stop supplying the above batch immediately. Quarantine all remaining stock and return it to your supplier using your supplier’s approved process.

I believe that I have one of those batches.. will this affect them working as well as they should?

It might well affect how it works, otherwise I don't think they'd do a recall. Maybe ask your pharmacist or even make him aware about the withdrawal and ask if there's another option you could trial at present.

I think if it definitely had an impact on dosing, it could have resulted in a full recall.

If a bit of a tablet crumbles off while you are removing it from the blister pack, that could obviously have an effect.

Up to you, of course, but if they are all crumbling, take them back and ask for a replacement. But be aware they might not have any in stock.
