Suggest you look at getting FULL Thyroid and vitamin testing done after 6-8 weeks on 125mcg levothyroxine

Which brand of levothyroxine are you currently taking

Is this always same brand

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

When were vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 last tested

You could ask GP to test vitamin levels now

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Is this how you do your tests?

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

Vitamin D good

Presumably you stopped taking vitamin B complex a week before blood test

Which vitamin B complex are you currently taking

Folate obviously low

B12 could be better

In week before test, when stopping vitamin B complex, you could consider taking separate folate and separate B12.

Ferritin likely better at least over 70

Look at increasing iron rich foods in diet

As vegetarian you may benefit from a separate B12 in addition to vitamin B complex

Low B12 symptoms

b12deficiency.info/signs-an...

With serum B12 result below 500, (Or active B12 below 70) recommended to be taking a B12 supplement as well as a B Complex (to balance all the B vitamins) initially for first 2-4 months, then once your serum B12 is over 500 (or Active B12 level has reached 70), stop the B12 and just carry on with the B Complex.

The present review of the literature regarding B12 status among vegetarians shows that the rates of B12 depletion and deficiency are high. It is, therefore, recommended that health professionals alert vegetarians about the risk of developing subnormal B12 status. Vegetarians should also take preventive measures to ensure adequate intake of this vitamin, including the regular intake of B12 supplements to prevent deficiency. Considering the low absorption rate of B12 from supplements, a dose of at least 250 μg should be ingested for the best results.3

supplementing a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid) may be beneficial. This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and will help improve B12 levels too

Difference between folate and folic acid

chriskresser.com/folate-vs-...

B vitamins best taken after breakfast

Thorne Basic B is a recommended option that contains folate, but is large capsule. You can tip powder out if can’t swallow capsule

IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

Hiya, looking at your results some well most nutrient levels need increasing. B12 needs to be at the top of the range, ie 770

Folate about 2/3-3/4 of the range

Ferretin needs to be at about 100 or 2/3rds of the range (could be a source of your fatigue)

Often in hypothyroidism there's an imbalance in the Copper Iron/Ferretin and Zinc triangle of nutrients, example is say high copper could be suppressing your ferretin. Also vitamin C and B2 is needed for proper absorption of iron. Plus Levothyroxine depletes Iron/Ferretin

Also often stomach acid is low, hypochloridria this prevents proper nutrient breakdown and absorption. Amino acids are also linked too as to make stomach acid, we need the amino acid Histidine, + Zinc and B1/thiamine. The amino acid for thyroid is Tyrosine ie T4= 1 molecule of Tyrosine and 4 molecules of iodine. To ensure I get all my amino acids I use a whey protein shake with almond milk, I made the mistake of taking it after dinner and didn't realise that that's why I got energy an hour or so afterwards, now it's in the AM Protein fires all things up including helping the Liver too.

Hope this helps

Its not weight loss one is it as having complan at mo as appetite not good

Roadrunnergreg profile image
Roadrunnergreg in reply to sunsation1

No it's not weight loss one, is appetite issue being no appetite..?? If so I know/knew the feeling. Whey protein gives a satisfying appetite feeling full longer without cravings so does fibre carbohydrates should come from mainly vegetation, simple carbs like bread biscuits, too much cheese cause fatigue ie crashes, never mind low thyroid hormones or low iron...

There's about 5 flavours of the whey protein anyway here's a link
