Levo Increase

I have had a small increase of Levo of 13mcg per day. When am I likely to feel a difference? I feel like I might be feeling very minor differences, but nothing much yet. It’s been 2 weeks?

Depends what your labs were like before the increase. It's an incredibly small dose to be able to make a difference.

You’ll see my labs on previous posts. From memory my T3 was 3.1 and my T4 was only mid range. I’ve increased this myself because I feel so rubbish and it brings me up to what I should have for weight height. All my vits were good. Ferritin could be higher, but not bad. The Specialist said he wouldn’t increase because my TSH is 1 sometimes 0.9. I am starting to feel slight improvements on increased dose, but wondered what else to expect. My Specialist doesn’t seem to hold much belief in T3! I’m trying to change Specialist.

Well, if your FT4 was only mid-range, an increase of just 12.5 mcg isn't going to make much difference at all.

Your 'specialist' - specialist in what, one wonders! probably diabetes - is an idiot, and shouldn't be dosing by the TSH. That's the best way to keep the patient sick. It's the FT3 that is the most important number.

And, if your FT3 was bottom of the range with FT4 mid-range, you probably are going to need T3 at some point, because it would appear you don't convert very well.

Some people can tolerate much larger increases than others. I’m definitely in the ‘slow & steady’ camp, as I can only tolerate increasing by 12.5mcg every couple of weeks, whereas others can add 25mcg or 50mcg. If you don’t feel any benefit and your blood tests show there is room for an increase, can you take 25mcg instead?

Probably not because my TSH is 1.0 sometimes 0.9.

A lot of forum members have suppressed TSH. Mine is much lower than yours, but my endo is fine with that as my FT3 and FT4 are within range.

I’m trying to find a new Endo, because mine hoods little belief in T3, but did do an appeal for me as it’s not available in Dorset but it was rejected…
