In my recent blood tests, my IgE results were through the roof and the doc says it was high in 2018 too, round about when my hair loss started and I tested for antibodies which were high.
Does anyone know if this is linked to Thyroid issues or raised antibodies?
My report states:
Immunglobulin IgE 735 (range 2-214)
Can be elevated in allergy, allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis, parasitic infections, and some inflammatory diseases and heamatological disorders.
It was around 800 in 2018 but my GP says its do with allergic reactions but we don't know what it could be and it can't be tested on the NHS.
Thanks!

My simplistic understanding is that the term antibody describes a function while the term immunoglobulin is used for the actual molecules that are antibodies.
IgE is one of a group known as immunoglobins, our first line of defence of antibodies. IgE is usually associated with a severe allergy as the reaction is immediate. Not intolerance (as in delayed or built up reaction) but immediate actual runny noise, itchy rash, tongue swelling, breathlessness, vomiting, etc and can be due to anaphylaxis, or the release of large amounts of inflammatory chemicals such as histamine.
They are antibodies made to protect us, whereas our thyroid antibodies, known as auto-antibodies are made for self-attack. It is well known that one autoimmune condition invites another but I think once the immune system gets really messed up with elevated antibodies, it is also more susceptible to experience these other immune issues.
