Hi there , my doctor has just put me on 50mcg of levothyroxine, after 10 years of being on just 25mcg they kept saying it was only borderline

I’ve mentioned before about symptoms of last 15 months, stomach/bowel pain etc , when I eat everything seems affected and feel worse/ fatigue, Now I’m getting Excruciating headaches/ dizziness/ pain in right side of neck from ear down/ pain in eye . I’ve had Private CT scan, got diverticulitis and duodenitis. Been fobbed off by GP ,and not offered anything from hospital.

I’m wondering if I should see a private Endocrinologist as I just want to feel well and be able to go out again. I’m putting results of last blood test. Thanks in advance 😊

Have you got any thyroid test results?

I’ve had Private CT scan, got diverticulitis and duodenitis

Is GP addressing these?

What has been said about your very high ferritin level?

Hi Seaside susie , I’ve spoken to him about high ferritin levels and he said well UVE had it since 2013 , it’s not an issue !! He keeps palming me off with tablets for stomach and Oramorph. I read just yesterday that thyroid can cause stomach issues and headaches etc , palpitations.

Thanks for replying 😀

So, what are your thyroid results?

Have you been tested for haemochromatosis? If you haven't been you really should be properly tested. It should also include genetic testing I think, because it is a hereditary condition.

Just because you've had high levels of ferritin for several years isn't a reason to ignore it! It is possible that all this time you ought to have been getting therapeutic phlebotomy.

I'm sure there is at least one regular member who has this condition, but I can't remember who it is. Some searching on the forum may find them.

Edit : I've just remembered... It was radd who has been diagnosed with iron overload/haemochromatosis. She may have some useful info for you.
