Has anyone experienced extreme sadness while taking Euthyrox such as crying excessively?? Ever since I’ve been taking it I would cry over the smallest things which is not normal for me:(

Emotional rollercoaster is, as I felt it, a part of the hormonal imbalance. Most likely it's not the pill itself but a side effect of the hormonal underlying cause. Personally I've got used to it, managed to control it and eventually dissipated after a while, after several intervention on the dosage and mix of hormones.

There might be also some discrete trauma in the fact that your health is not the best it's ever been.

It will get better, hang on and keep looking for optimal balance, both inside and outside your body.

I hope this helps, it's mostly based on my personal journey and therefore not necessarily applicable to you.

Sending a big hug xx

How long have you been taking it? I’m going to take a guess that you may not be on an optimal dose for you just yet—what dosage have you been prescribed?

As Caesard says, it can be an emotional rollercoaster to start with because your body’s being given a hormone it hasn’t has enough of. And it may still not have enough of (chances are you’re still on a starter dose).

I’ve been taking the medication for about a year. I started to feel better until a few months later my emotions started to feel unusual. I take 25 mcg.

Issues with emotional regulation and / or an inability to feel at all are lesser-known thyroid symptoms, unfortunately. It seems to happen to me a lot. So, I would agree that it probably isn’t the specific brand of medication. It is more likely that you just don’t have fT4 and fT3 in the right place for you at the moment. I had a very tearful day yesterday and a feel pretty much on the edge again today and I’m convinced, despite the fact it’s been a tough time generally, that the wrong hormone levels are at the root of it. Actually yesterday’s meltdown was because I was scared I’d never get to the right level, which is silly of me, as there are plenty more things to try yet…

So what should I do to keep my hormone levels at the right place?

Hi Ocean_19, I agree with previous commentators. I've been taking Euthryrox on and off for 5 years. I switched a few times to other brands and now back on it. My crying fits etc. had nothing to do with change of brands, they still happen most days, usually in the morning.

You need to get, not keep, yr. hormones in or to the right place. Do blood checks, check your vitamin levels, and study the matter on this platform!

I'm still struggling like crazy but without this place I'd be much much worse. "Knowledge is power", they say. Unless you have a reliable endo. But good luck with that, they're like a needle in a haystack. Therefore much of us self medicate with the help of great people here. Good luck and keep the hope up. we're with you

🥰

So will the crying fits still be there even if i founded the right dosage of medicine?

No, they won't! Once in a while, I’ve hit on the right balance, or dosage, and for a day or two I’m cheerful, light, positive about everything , find myself humming etc. Usually when I change something. Unfortunately then the symptoms get bad including the Blues that takes over again… So I have to keep searching and trying. On the one hand it gives you back hope and on the other it’s very frustrating, because you know it’s possible but just don’t seem able to get there.

Today is such a day after two of feeling better. It’s like yr. body is rewarding you for changing something that wasn’t right and then says “but this one’s not the right one either, try again”. That’s my experience. Maybe different for many others. For now I’m sticking to this new change in meds, accepting that today is a bad day, trying to be patient (Grrr!) and hoping it’s a slow, wavy, up & down curve – upwards! What else can we do? We’re stuck with it till it changes. Hope this has been helpful, Ocean_19.

But I thought that thyroid medications are supposed to stabilize your mood and bring it back to normal?

Nevermind I understood what you meant, thank you so much anyway!

Over the years I notice I get very depressed and anxious if I’m not on enough thyroid hormone. Panic attacks and doom and gloom feeling that improve as I take the right amount.
