Anyone taking this? Any views? I’m on T4 T3. Have poor exercise recovery. Was thinking of trying d ribose. Thoughts welcome.

Thanks Jacqui

JacqS71,

I haven't used it (unless in a blend unknowingly) but Isabella Wenzt advocates it to support mitochondria & so energy production.

I went through a tub of it after a long course of antibiotics, which can cause mitochondrial dysfunction. I didn't notice any effect apart, maybe, from being more willing to get to bed at a reasonable time.

JacqS71,

I tried this along with a load of other supplements based on the protocol by Dr Myhill in her book. Initially it gave me energy as you would expect but it has the ability to reduce blood sugar and very suddenly. So never take it on an empty stomach.

However, I’ve completely stopped it now because it was making me feel hypoglycaemic even adding a small amount to a morning smoothie. At one point I almost fainted after feeling very lightheaded. So not for me.

I took it for a while after reading Dr Myhill’s book. It tasted lovely in orange juice and it definitely gave me an energy boost with no ill effects. Once I had vitamins and minerals better balanced (with help of a functional doc) I didn’t feel the need for it anymore!

I have taken it but not for long periods. It didn't seem to affect me.

Yes, I have exertion intolerance and it does help somewhat.

And it doesn’t over stimulate you with thyroxine?

No I did not notice any over stimulation. If I made it a long walk or yoga session I used it before and after.
