How do you choose a private endocrinologist?

I found one in London (before I discovered this forum) - after a LOT of googling ... I wanted someone who was a proper thyroid specialist rather than a diabetes guy. So I looked at thumbnail biogs on hospital websites and everything else I could find.

An easier way is to get the list of recommended private endos from Dionne at Thyroid UK - [e-mail] - or a new post to ask for recommendations near-ish to you.

Worth saying why you want to see one - the guy I found was kind and knowledgeable, and gave a good 40 minute consultation - but doesn't prescribe lio in his NHS practice, so I stayed with my less-than-impressive NHS endo who does - and now I get my thyroid expertise from here
