Endo has put me on PTU 50mg twice a day.

Would this be correct?

It's difficult for anyone to say if it is correct to put you an PTU or not ...

From what we know so far :

You have history of some nodules,

You have a Graves (TRab) antibody result which is technically negative , (but suspiciously high) ,

You have what looks to be a negative result for Hashimoto's (TPOab) antibodies (but range was not stated)

You have over-range T3... but it doesn't seem to be giving you symptoms of hyperthyroidism.

You have fT4 that is only mid-range.

But your TSH is supressed.......possibly because of the over range fT3.

But.. if the reason for trying antithyroid treatment is not for symptom relief , but it is to see if lowering hormone levels and thus raising TSH will help with Trying To Conceive , then they will have to be pretty careful to not lower thyroid hormones so much they leave you hypothyroid at the very time you might conceive , as that can be a problem for miscarriage and foetal development , but also hypothyroid results make it difficult to conceive in the first place.

So i suppose as long as they get your thyroid levels reduced just enough and can keep them stable before you tried to got pregnant , then it might be the right thing to do ?

, but...... your T3 is not very high compared to the sort of levels that usually require treatment with antithyroid drugs , and also your T4 is currently OK anyway , and the PTU would reduce that too ....

.... i seem to remember that T4 levels ARE important during pregnancy , but can't remember exactly why at the moment.

Research suggests only FT4 crosses placenta ....so good FT4 is important

thank you so much for your input. I guess it's a mystery lol. I have started taking PTU and have a check up in 5 weeks to see the levels then.
