Feeling not listened to or even pressurised by your doctor?.. Affirmation

Dear members,

I'd like to quote Dr. Jolene Brighten after listening to her lecture as part of the autoimmunesummit.net

This is for those of us who feel frustrated with their GPs and specialists.

" Remember, you are not crazy/ hysterical and you've never been. You absolutely DO know your body and your symptoms ARE real. Do not let anybody make you believe otherwise! You just want to be heard.

If your doctor doesn't agree with you it doesn't necessarily mean they are a bad doctor/ specialist. Science doesn't know everything. What matters is that the relationships between you and the doctor should work for YOU. If you feel not listened to, change the doctor.

You hold the line what your truth is. "

Hope this helps somebody who lost their belief in their doctor.

X

It is highly unlikely I will EVER regain my trust in doctors (excluding surgeons). Years of lies and nonsense from them has caused so much harm that this is now impossible.

Yes, I agree with Panda321. I will never trust doctors ever again.

Doctors have disbelieved and dismissed what I said, minimised my symptoms, laughed at me, lied to me, shouted at me, kicked me out of their surgeries, rolled their eyes at me, and tortured me by disbelieving that I'm in pain or that my symptoms are real.

They insist that any invisible symptoms are the result of mental illness and thus are not credible and I'm making them up, attention-seeking, or I'm a hypochondriac. And these aren't one-offs or rare occurrences. They are "normal" doctor/patient interactions for me, and have been since I was in my early teens, which was decades ago. Doctors have also nearly killed me twice, and then refused to even admit that their incompetence left me with life-long damage.

I've had surgery where internal organs have been removed. Within a few years my medical records claimed they had grown back again, and not only that they were perfectly healthy.

I have given up even talking to doctors unless the symptom(s) I want to discuss are visible. And that is pretty rare once you get past the childhood diseases with their rashes, high fevers and gland/throat swelling.

I agree with ghe two above. I have been treated so badly, lied to, false information given to consultants, straightforward treatments not carried out, left in pain and ill and unable to work. Again, this is not a one off occurrence, no unfortuantely, i will NEVER trust any medical person again. Even a surgeon tried to talk to me just as i was about to be put under for a removal of a tumour. He did not like that i had asked for margins around the tumour. I was right and avoided a second surgery because i was right, any apology for putting my life in danger...........well i think you all know the answer to that one!!!!!
