Can being over medicated cause anxiety?
Thissucks37,
Yes, it's common to feel anxiety when over medicated. Thyroid hormone mediates our metabolism and too much speeds everything up to a state where the body can't manage stress as well.
There are other causes of anxiety such as trying to introduce or trying to raise thyroid hormone replacement dose when iron or cortisol levels are too low, etc . Are you over medicated now?
If you have test results to share members will comment.
Listen to your body and reduce dose slightly when next due. It is always wise to listen to your body and symptoms, as we cannot always tell by a blood test. You state 'when my dose is too high' shows that you are aware that you're on - maybe a litte - too much so reduce to previous dose.
It can—but are you definitely overmedicated? Because being undermedicated can also cause anxiety-type feelings.

Perhaps you should get FULL Thyroid and vitamin testing done see what’s going on
My anxiety increases if thyroid medication or key vitamins (ferritin, folate, vit D) not optimal. I take magnesium early evening; it helps me relax & sleep better. Best wishes to you.
Yes I was over medicated once with a faulty blood test. The doctor said I needed to increase my Levo from 100mg that my I’d been on for years to 150mg due to it being too low. After 2 days I felt hyper, anxious and had heart palpitations. I stopped taking the extra 50 and went back to normal. I phoned the doctor who did another blood test and my levels were ok on 100 mg. The only thing I can think off is that the tests got muddled up.
