Eye floaters

Eye floaters aren't necessarily a symptom of hypothyroidism, I know people who have them but aren't hypothyroid. You said in your previous post that he has had his eyes checked and they're fine, did he mention the floaters to the optician?
If they *are* floaters.
Are they there all the time? Or just occasionally? If it’s occasional, migraine with aura could be a cause (migraines don’t always hurt but the visual disturbance can be quite freaky!).
Or it could feasibly be a blood pressure thing, like when you see “stars” on getting up too quickly. Haven’t had that for years but it used to happen when I was a kid getting out of the bath...
Yes - I get floaters. Optician has confirmed that they are quite pronounced. Sometimes they seem to disappear. Not sure how much is coping, how much is them moving around, and how much is variation in levels.
And, as Jazzw refers, I also get visual/aura migraines.
I’ve only had migraine with aura once and it scared me silly, even though I worked out what it was quite quickly (my Dad’s suffered with migraines all his life and had done a great job of describing what it was like). It lasted 30 minutes almost to the second (exactly the length of time his last, followed by a feeling like your head is stuffed with cotton wool). It was pretty bizarre. Hasn’t happened again—yet...
I also get floaters - got a really irritating one right now actually which appears like a black speck rather than the usual translucent worm-y things I’ve had before. Apparently they do get worse as you get older (something to look forward to!).
Worth googling “floaters” Vincent512 as there’s a decent set of images which give an idea of what that’s like—also “migraine with aura”.
This video is something like my last aura migraine:
Yes, I get floaters and have done for many years. They are getting worse with age. My TSH was last measured as 0.03. I'm hypothyroid and on Levo and T3.
I’ve had floaters for years. A lot depends on the light in the sky - I think I notice mine more on a dull grey day - and the size of them as to whether I see them or not and I don’t think they are thyroid related. People without thyroid problems get them too. What I find fascinating is that they drift downwards yet if you try to focus on them you can’t.
I also get visuals with migraine, that starts as a sparkly shape in the top corner of my vision and gradually gets larger until it takes up the whole eye, then it just disappears, sometimes I get a headache, sometimes not.
If you optician has checked thoroughly and says they are definitely floaters then it’s likely that they are and that you’re right in that he is probably looking for them.
I've had floaters since I was at least a teenager (in 30s now), long before my thyroid issues. The optician says they're pretty common. They tend to dissolve or settle over time, every so often they'll make you think you saw a spider out the corner of your eye, but that's all.
If they get a lot worse, then see an optician again.
