What side effects hang around?: I’m Taking 100mcg... - Thyroid UK
What side effects hang around?
27 days ago your post suggests you were taking 100mcg only once every 2 days ....very odd dosing regime
Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after unchanging dose and brand of levothyroxine
What vitamin supplements are you currently taking
When were vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 last tested
Have you had thyroid antibodies tested
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies
Ask GP to test vitamin levels
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Is this how you do your tests?
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins

My dose was changed to 100 daily and I started 27 days ago. Next blood test for all of the above is due on Tuesday.
Likely too soon to test
Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks ideally
Make sure you do test as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
Essential to regularly retest vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 too
Thanks. So is the feeling on my chest something I should just put to the back of my mind for now?
I get palpitations when under medicated. I also used to get palpitations on levo and that stopped when I changed to NDT. However, the brand of NDT I take also affects how my heart behaves. So it may also be a question of the drug or brand not suiting you.
