This is a very interesting paper about the links between prolonged ICU patients and ME/CFS.

"Finally, we suggest that immediate collaborative efforts

should be sought among the researcher community in order to conduct longitudinal studies with the aim of identifying similarities and differences across prolonged critical illness, post ICU syndrome, ME/CFS, fibromyalgia and long-COVID in relation to the hormonal axes, O&NS and pro-inflammatory response with the objective of discovering diagnostic and therapeutic targets mitigating the functional disability that these conditions induce."

Finally a paper willing to look at alternative causes for long term fatigue states besides that of 'depression' It has been blindingly obvious for some time that hormones must be a mediating factor - most sufferers of these conditions are women - but then that's why its so poorly researched. I'll have a read!
