Saw this and HAD to share it with this group. For you non-Yanks, the woman in the picture is a famous comedienne, Lucille Ball.

I once had a doctor who thought I knew more about my thyroid than he did, this was some years ago.

Some of us non-yanks know Lucille Ball! I remember 'I love Lucy' very well, great series, very funny woman. But, then, I'm so old! lol

Yes, I once had a doctor that said I knew more than he did - but, believe me, that wasn't difficult! Trouble was, even though he knew I knew more than he did, he wasn't prepared to learn! Well, you can lead a horse to the water, but...

She was great! I loved her from being a youngster she was on the box here quite a lot. I got a young doctor who told me I obviously knew more than she did about the thyroid but she listened intently to what I had to say about it. For the first time I thought there’s hope if the young ones open their minds; plus the slowly growing body of evidence that is revolutionising understanding will help, if they bother to read any of it.

Funnily enough, there is news about her today:

Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem are set to play the actress and her wayward husband in Being The Ricardos (the couple's surname in the sitcom).

Will probably hear much more when it is released. But I wouldn't have wished to be on the wrong side of her!

My GP actually admitted I probably knew more than her when I explained my blood test results to her, especially the very low TSH due to my taking T3, and trusted me to carry on adjusting my own doses according to how I felt.

Haha yes totally. I say “blah blah blah” and the GP says “oh, right, um, yes...”.

We always watched ‘I Love Lucy’. It was hilarious.

TV these days is full of problems, cooking shows, somebody always walking the hills or travelling by train.

There’s barely anything that’s funny or entertaining any more.

Christmas Day we had “carry on” films on. A lot of modern tv humour is not particularly funny.

One we like is ‘Would I Lie To You’ and that is really funny.

When I was young I thought all the tv comedies were funny - I think comedy is harder to find as we get older. But love Father Ted.

I had trained my GP over the years to listen and he knew I knew more than him and did not question me. He had retired and it looks like I will have to start again but the new one does not like to listen or have me question his "findings". Sigh!

Try functional medicine, it has put my hypo and lupus in remission. Look at adrenals health as linked to thyroid health, like a seesaw, so a game of levelling both and reducing chemical, psychological, emotional and physical stresses. Book list : Amy Myers "The Autoimnune Solution". Alan Christianson "The Adrenal Reset Diet". Deanna Minich "Quantum Supplements a Total Health and Wellness Makeover". Katy Bowman "Move Your DNA". Louise Hay "Heal your body". Giulia Enders "GUT, the inside story of our body's most under-rated organ"... all suggested or recommended by a medical practitioner.

If you went to the doctor complaining of hypo symptoms, e.g., feeling "tired, rundown, listless..." he or she might advise you try Vitameatavegamin. 😂

Or give you a scrip for an antidepressant.

Yup, as a non - Yank, I had the priviledge of watching some of her films in B&W, not sure whether she did colour movies, great and funny actress. And YUP for knowing more than my conventional doctor since I started treatment with functional medicine that goes much further, looks at the root causes of ailments, environmental factors, toxic load, various stresses and intrinsic link of thyroid health to adrenals health.
