Hi everyone. I was diagnosed Hypo thyroid 10 months ago after a long drawn out fight with my GP also Pernicious Anemia.........lockdown has meant they havnt monitored my levels as closely as they should have and an though I do feel better than I did I have on going problems with my throat and have not discussed it with my GP as frankly I have no confidence whatsoever with them. I wonder if anyone else has these symptoms. ........I have a constant ache/discomfort in my throat. It's not a soreness it's more a pain. It's always there but sometimes is worse than others. I feel dry and a bit hoarse on occasions and sometimes cough when I swallow. It seems to be getting worse......any thoughts advice?

How much levothyroxine are you currently taking

Do you always get same brand of levothyroxine

Have you had your B12 injections as scheduled

Are you currently taking any other vitamin supplements

Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after any dose change or brand change in levothyroxine

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin

Low vitamin levels are extremely common,

Presumably your hypothyroidism is autoimmune thyroid disease as you also have Pernicious Anaemia

Ask GP to test vitamin levels and thyroid levels

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins
