Why do I have to take two different tremor meds?

My doctors never told me why I am taking these medicines. If I don't take them then both of my hands start flapping like a scared duckling flaps its wings. Why do I have to take carvadopa levadopa and primadone?

This is a thyroid forum. Of course, someone might know something of these medicines but it really isn't an ideal place to discuss tremor medications. Especially as you don't give even a hint there is a thyroid aspect to your question.

There might be more appropriate forums such as:

National Tremor Foundation

satindoll77054, Please go back to your doctors to ask this question. There are no medically trained members on this forum, and we don't know your health history. Only your doctors can tell you why you have been prescribed these medications.

Looking at previous posts you have Parkinson’s as well as hashimoto’s and coeliac

Perhaps more likely tremor medication is for Parkinson’s

For a detailed understanding I suggest you talk to your Parkinson’s disease consultant or specialist nurse. Levodopa increases the amount of dopamine in the brain and globally reduces the symptoms of Parkinson’s not just the tremor, whilst primidone is used for the essential tremor component but is ineffective for the ataxia or difficulty in speech.
