Hi all,

I got ears’s issues at moments.. a bit like tinnitus..but hearing is still ok .

something weirds..as it stuck in the middle of inside ears, really uncomfortable, quite heavy headed also, feel little bit imbalance sometimes..

Just remember had an dental X-rays on both teeths sides last Thu then a day after this happened physicaly feelings,

Could this issues links to these X rays or might be somethings elses?

Anyone help to find out

Many Thanks in advances!

How much levothyroxine are you currently taking Do you always get same brand of levothyroxine

When were thyroid levels last tested

Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after EACH Dose change or brand change in levothyroxine

Being hypothyroid/low Ft4 and/or low B12 all linked to tinnitus

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies

Ask GP to test vitamin levels

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins

List of private testing options

thyroiduk.org/getting-a-dia...

Medichecks Thyroid plus antibodies and vitamins

medichecks.com/products/adv...

Thriva Thyroid plus antibodies and vitamins By DIY fingerpick test

thriva.co/tests/thyroid-test

Thriva also offer just vitamin testing

Blue Horizon Thyroid Premium Gold includes antibodies, cortisol and vitamins by DIY fingerprick test

If you can get GP to test vitamins and antibodies then cheapest option for just TSH, FT4 and FT3

£29 (via NHS private service ) and 10% off down to £26.10 if go on thyroid uk for code

I am not getting on with any thyroxine since im prescribed, even worse !

I was on Pharmacy Mecury then seen ppl here says they are better on Wockhardt as it got the least fillers so Im just switching on few days now same time with dentals X-rays

So Im not sure which one is caused that tinnitus or Im just so low B12..

Im too much numbness on my foots and goes up a bit to hands

Along with Vit D 2000iu

Magnesium 100mg ( as Susie Seasides advices)

Im adding B12 - 1000 mg just now

I was in low doses Thyroxine but already increased 5 days 50mg & 2 days 75 mg and waiting for one more for boods retest

Until on correct dose, symptoms frequently get worse

That’s tiny dose, unless you are very petite

Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after each dose increase

All thyroid tests should be done as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

guidelines on dose levothyroxine by weight

Even if we don’t start on full replacement dose, most people need to increase levothyroxine dose slowly upwards in 25mcg steps (retesting 6-8 weeks after each increase) until on, or near full replacement dose

NICE guidelines on full replacement dose

nice.org.uk/guidance/ng145/...

1.3.6

Consider starting levothyroxine at a dosage of 1.6 micrograms per kilogram of body weight per day (rounded to the nearest 25 micrograms) for adults under 65 with primary hypothyroidism and no history of cardiovascular disease.

cks.nice.org.uk/topics/hypo...

gp-update.co.uk/Latest-Upda...

Traditionally we have tended to start patients on a low dose of levothyroxine and titrate it up over a period of months.

RCT evidence suggests that for the majority of patients this is not necessary and may waste resources.

For patients aged >60y or with ischaemic heart disease, start levothyroxine at 25–50μg daily and titrate up every 3 to 6 weeks as tolerated.

For ALL other patients start at full replacement dose. For most this will equate to 1.6 μg/kg/day (approximately 100μg for a 60kg woman and 125μg for a 75kg man).

If you are starting treatment for subclinical hypothyroidism, this article advises starting at a dose close to the full treatment dose on the basis that it is difficult to assess symptom response unless a therapeutic dose has been trialled.

A small Dutch double-blind cross-over study (ArchIntMed 2010;170:1996) demonstrated that night time rather than morning dosing improved TSH suppression and free T4 measurements, but made no difference to subjective wellbeing. It is reasonable to take levothyroxine at night rather than in the morning, especially for individuals who do not eat late at night.

Come back with new post once you get results

Just testing TSH and Ft4 is completely inadequate

Im even lose weight sometimes never put weights

One question, should I carry on switching to Wockhardt meds?

Which brand of levothyroxine suits each person is very individual

Some people love Teva, many people can’t tolerate it

Mercury Pharma or Accord are probably the most widely available and tolerated

Mercury Pharma is available in 25, 50 and 100mcg

Wockhart only as 25mcg

Accord (also boxed as Northstar and Almus) only as 50mcg and 100mcg

Which ever brand suits you best, is trial and error

Once you have decided, it’s important to stick on that brand

I hardly got that kind of tinnitus before, just unbalance feeling sometimes

I was on Mercury Pharmacy just switching to Wockhardt 5 days now and experiences this tinnitus .. not really sure which caused ..low Vits B12

low doses or anything else

I’d better go back to my usual Mercury

Will be back after next bloods test done,

Thank you

You could be suffering from Eustachian Tube Dysfunction :

patient.info/ears-nose-thro...

I've had this intermittently for at least 10 years. I've discovered in my case that keeping my sugar intake low helps.

Its interesting to know.. It might be my symptoms or it’s caused by my loads of other hypo issues and Vitamins deficiency.. I don’t know

Just need to get lots of things done soon and lets see how it goes

Thanks for your post humanbean x

Interesting post! I’ve had tinnitus for probably 60 years now but it does vary. Had a thyroid issue probably around 37 years but we probably all have different stories to tell. I had a nasty fall about the time my tinnitus started so I’ve put mine down to that but then that’s the only thing I remember being as issue around that time. But found it’s slightly better if I learn to live with it and accept it as my often noisy friend! That can help but now I’m talking about it it’s getting much worse!

I’ve had tinnitus for probably 60 years now but it does vary.

So have I! Almost.

Long before I had any dental X-rays. Or fillings.

I find that human voice on the radio helps. Somehow, music often (but not always) clashes with it and after a short while I have to turn it off.

I tend to try not to think about it and that helps but I think I’m more likely to go to pieces if it stops! If I get a good nights sleep that makes a difference as much lower but I don’t think it understands consistency! May be I should get a replacement to the radio/ CD player in my bedroom and see what happens then! Trouble is I still have a son at home and he usually goes to bed early as he gets up early but now working from home so I feel I must be quiet for him as often gets conference calls from work. The plus point as we can’t do much I am pleased he is around!
